    Let's hear em'. Best/Worst speakers,cabs,combinations

I use a THD 2x12 cab that comes with broken in Celestion Classic Lead 80 no harshness or fizz or else. They also have a good throughput. I mean sensitivity? mVolts IN -> dB OUT.

    The mark V hype

+2 The IIC+ may be close to the real thing and the IV mode maybe close to the real thing but honestly I think Extreme mode is where the action is. Wow. And no I never had a Mark before. Why would I go back to a less versatile amp when all its 3 glorious channels are there for tapping with my...

    mark v durability

2-ply toilet paper is used to lower the abrasion commonly felt by its single-ply counterpart... I must have gotten ripped-off, cause I just checked my Soldano, Guytron, Fender Twin, Mark IIC+, Two-Rock, Fuch's, Mojave, Cornford, and Marshall Plexi... None of them have the "standard" plastic...

Mark V and the RJM Mini Amp Gizmo

If recabi.net turns out OK it would be a steal compare to the groove tube SE. Let us know the outcome. Thanks

Mark V and the RJM Mini Amp Gizmo

The minigizmo looks great. From what I read from their customer service they also seems like a dedicated bunch. You bring up something there. You mentioned that you use the slave signal to feed you DI. Are you disconnecting the speakers and replacing it with a dummy load for silent recording...

Anyone noticing any fizz/fuzz w/ their Mark V's?

Naahh! I'll stick around. I hear you. I understand that some fiziness can show up a bit and some of it if not all can be dialed out but I wonder if that fizz is also present when you put EL34 into the beast?

Anyone noticing any fizz/fuzz w/ their Mark V's?

So who is keeping their Mark V?

It's been two months as well. Had the time to figure it out better and, no it's not perfect because there are too many variables at play (guitar, speakers, cables, tubes, ear wax!!) but its a dawn good amp. I could not care less if it sounds like amp x or amp Y. I play all kind of style and I...

    Head weight?

It's 44 lbs and its small so it's very easy to carry around.

    SLAVE OUTPUT vs MUTE OUTPUT

Well, there is no worry really. I was just goofing around last night with the MUTE output when I realize I could try to use it for silent recording. Then again, if the signal for the slave is from the speaker's signal it would mean that it's post power section? From the behavior of the MUTE...

    SLAVE OUTPUT vs MUTE OUTPUT

Do the SLAVE and MUTE Ouputs come from the same place in the gain structure? The literature seems to claim that the slave comes from the speaker signals. Since there is no attenuator as such I would think the MUTE signal comes from between the preamp and power tubes, is that so? Any schematics...

    Mark V, Head or Combo

Well, I started with a combo, but after three weeks of struggling with rattles (changed rectifier tube and 6L6 tube which help a bit) I swapped the combo for a head. As many people have pointed out, having a speaker shaking the hell out of the amp just inches away is just physics. Now I can...

Pops between channels when in 10W.

I did some testing and I noticed for my amp at least the popings occur when you switch from one to the next say every second but once you leave it be for a few seconds 3 or 4 or more then not popping. The worse case was clean 45W the others at 90W but again only during quich switching. Very...

Weight of Mk V Combo (+ Head)?

Well I swapped my combo for a head. Now I much prefer twi trip with (44 lbs MkV head) and 49 lbs (2x12" THD) than a single 68 lbs combo. To each his own. 2x12" vs 1x12 is also much beter tone wise.
