Anyone else got a boost in front of their mark IV?

I do not have a mark IV but I do use a mark III. I use an xotic rc booster for a variety of things and love it.

    pickup selection for mark 4.

I would echo the comment on anderson pickups. The anderson guitars themselves are great as well...sometimes wish I had mine back...anyway...they are tested/used with boogies quite often so I am sure they are sort of tweaked to match a bit more than some of the others mentioned.

My third visit to the Mesa/Boogie Hollywood store . . .

Don't try a mark III or you will want that too!

    Mark IV Problem? (Clip inside)

It sounds fairly normal to me...based on the settings you are using. I am not so keen on the graphic eq having a big v myself. A lot of guys like that but it is not what I like. Also you do have the treble on 8! If there is fizz to be heard I think having that much treble would be the cause...

Mark III no need for LSS?

I personally think the mark III is superior all the way around compared to the lonestar. The mark seems to get more like the classic fender clean to me and certainly better dirty sounds. Just more colorful. The lonestar is a good amp and does have a mark series lineage but the real mark is what...

    Mark IV HATE!

take it for what it is worth, my opinions - have the amp checked out and also try changing the... 1. super distortion pickup - spikey high mids, ugh 2. emgs - plain yuck 3. jj tubes - weird unbalanced sound 4. NEVER EVER plug into a crate cab 5. try something different for the speaker like...

Good OD pedal to go with Mark IV?

I would recommend any type of pedal doing a clean boost or treble boost. I prefer the xotic rc booster because it can go from transparent to colored boost. Don't think that a treble booster makes your sound overly bright (like I used to think until I tried one) it just does brightens the input a...

    Setting on Mark IV

It seems to me all the boogies have a kind of weird tubby low end sound at low volumes regardless of bass settings, but at high volumes, punchy responsive goodness starts happening. These amps are not that cool for a bedroom player. But for someone who wants the goods delivered...it works. As...

    Mark IV vs. Diezel Einstein

The mark IV is the one I would take, einstein does not do it for me, to scratchy.

    more mark III tube stuff

I was just curious what other tubes folks like in the mark amps. As far as the "new" designation I mean new production. I am looking to buy standard fair in the tube world, easy to find and not NOS pricing. I do not want to get hooked into the idea that I have to have mullards, telefunkens...

    more mark III tube stuff

Thanks a lot for your reply. I am not going down the NOS tube route. I have a few and they are cool but I need new readily available tubes. You know the funny thing, on all of these forums(I am on a few) I feel the search function seems almost completely useless. I hardly ever find what I want...

    more mark III tube stuff

How many of you mark III owners use tung-sol reissue 12ax7's in the preamp tube slots? Any other (non-NOS) preamp tube preferences? Also, does anybody use any power tubes other than mesa in the mark III?

    Mark III stuff

Having said that, do you think my tone would be a little brighter if the ohms were "perfectly" matched? What about louder with that match? I have another amp (different brand) that sounds just right if matched but sounds a little bit odd mismatched. Just wondering how this affects the mark III...
