Rispira, don,t feel bad guy! I put down my deposit as soon as I could, and also did the exact same thing last year with the VHT Sig X (ordered it sight unseen). Nice amp it was, but I never truly bonded with it, and on to the bay it went. Outside of tweakability, they,re two entirely different animals of course, so I,m hoping that I,ll love the Mark 5. But, you can never be sure, can ya? These 2k leaps of faith are killing me! Guitar players, they never learn!

I pre-ordered, and then tried to forget about it. I was told mid-March, I added 2 months right away. I enjoy the idea that I am getting the amp, so not bent about it quite yet.

Some people mentioned "why buy before you can play it?" I had a friend ask me that, and at least for me it comes down to this. I know this is going to be a good amp, and I would rather take the outside chance that it is bad and I have to deal with a $3000 (yay CDN dollar so strong! as in terrible) mistake than find out it is an awesome amp and have to wait while all the back orders are filled.

As silly as this might sound, I am actually practicing stuff for when my Mark 5 arrives since the store I ordered at are going to let me try it with a few different cabinets. The longer it takes, the better prepared I will be. Can't look like a scrub in front of these fine people!

Be cool and enjoy the playing, soon we all shall rock to the tones of our new Mark 5s

Two points:

1) I do very much want my Mark V.
2) I am still very much scurrying around town trying to scrounge up the second half of the cash :D

Thanks man, and hopefully this time you WILL be satisfied with the amp!!!

End of march, early april, mid to late april. I,ve even heard, possibly early-mid may! Everyone seems to have been told something different. I just want a definative shipping date to within a week or so. ****, is that so much to ask?!
For me, not knowing WHEN I can expect to get it, is worst than the actual wait itself. Once I know, I can pretty much steady myself to get prepared to wait for that long. (okay, I just lied, HA!) I say, let,s get that posse together and head on out to the factory. They,ve got to have at least twenty or so sitting around ready to go. They could,nt stop all of us!

Agreed, it would be much easier for me to wait if there was a more definitive answer.

I just called the store I ordered mine at and the rep told them yesterday that Mesa isn't even going to begin production until April and it could be late May/June before they ship. FWIW, I ordered mine the second week of January. :(

"late may, june"? Oh, hells no, I certainly hope not! See, this is what I was talking about before, just about everyone is being told something waayyy different! There,s a cat in another thread who,s saying he was just at the hollywood store store checking out a demo they have there, and that they told him directly possibly by next WEEK! And that is what I was told, end of march/early april. Which ones of us are being given accurate, correct information here, I sure would like to know for sure. I know one thing, it sure would,nt be cool to have told folks that they,ve already been in production all of this time, and they actually have,nt!

Agreed. In fact, if that's the case I'll cancel my pre-order and get the deposit refunded. I'm one of those who ordered the week of NAMM so if it's gonna be delayed even further then forget it. I'll go with what I have or get something else and consider the V next year or something. In fact, with all this delay talk I may just go ahead and do that anyway. :x

I think the claim that they won't even be in production until May must be completely bogus. If so, why would they unveil the amp at winter NAMM? Wouldn't it have made more sense to unveil them at the summer show? Also, why on earth would the Hollywood store be telling customers who have already put money down to expect them as early as next week? I don't buy it.

Precisely Bob, neither do I. I mean, I realize that sometimes matters come up with production of a new piece and whatnot, a certain part not being ready when they thought, etc...and that it would be practically impossible to give an exact shipping time, but ****, what the hell have they been doing all this time, (months) since we,ve been waiting, and (TOLD mind you!) that production had already begun.
And to me, the killer part is, "won,t even begin production until april", WTF!? Why would that be for Christs sake? I,m kind of new to this, so please, someone feel free to educate me here. Would this be something deserving of an explaination, or...is it simply a matter of, "you wait until we ship, (whenever that is) or take your business elsewhere?"
Now, the latest update that I got today from my dealer here in Mi. is, mid april for the combo, and late april/may for the head. The mystery continues, and since I really believe that I,m going to love this amp, I quess another month won,t kill me...(sign)

I know what you guys mean....I WANT MY M K V.
Axe-Fx seems to be very very popular at the moment (all the rage). I'm sure it's very good. I had a choice go with Axe-FX or MKV. I chose to pre-order the MKV. I currently use a MKIV in my rig. I may eventually get the Axe-FX down the road but for now I love playing my tube amps ;)

Get the axe-fx for you FX.... aside from the modelling (which is stellar), mine sounds great with my Roadster and I just use it for fx. Would sound fantastic with your Mark V

Ditto. I was told the same thing by my dealer this past weekend. Consequently, I canceled my order. G.A.S. deflated

I am now going to wait until some hit the streets and I can actually try b4 buying.

Hi all... I just found this forum after scouring google for any information regarding the Mark V. Has anyone called Mesa Boogie headquarters to find out what they have to say about shipping dates?

I haven't placed an order yet, currently in the "saving for it" phase... but I definitely would be interested to hear reviews from the guys on here who will be getting it!

This link says july/august but it is in the UK. Still even if you add a month or 2 delay (because they are in the UK and I assume US gets them first) we could still be looking june!!

I'm phoning mesa in the moring to give 'em the old, "what for". If they were talking summer off the start I could have bought a IV, played it for a few months, then sold it for the V instead waiting like a dingbat and having no mark amp to satisfy my fix. I think some of the best advice I've heard so far is to get my deposit back and wait for a used one.

To bad, so sad... :(

I hear ya mon, but dig this...I was promised, I repeat, PROMISED from my dealer today that it would be just about TWO WEEKS FROM NOW, give or take a day or two swing! What I,ve maintained all along is that if they,ve already been in production (which I was told they have), why should anyone who placed an order early on the first run be looking at late may or sometime in june? Lets just be reasonable here, that,s ridiculous! Being patient is one thing. I know that they have to build the things. But waiting blindly with no real idea when to expect your product after you,ve put your money down is something else. For me, they have til end of april. After that, I,ll be cancelling as well, and looking for something else. The great Mark 5 watch/mystery of 09 continues!

Well we shall see, my dealer called the Mesa Rep...in front of me and stated May/June delivery. I proceeded to cancel my order.

Man, when one really stops to think about all of this, it,s actually kind of comical. This company has us all on pins & needles while they play the, "now which cup is the ball under" game with all of these differently stated shipping times. All I can say is that this amp better be Scarlette Johanssons looks turned into sound good, or I,m going to be very disappointed! HA!

Ok, so I talk to Mesa directly about 10 min ago. Guess what they told me...6-8weeks! Which is the same answer they gave me on March 5 and I told him that, and he said that he's just suppose to say 6-8weeks (He seems like a nice guy though). So yes, 6-8weeks from now, and from tomorrow and from the day after and etc.

And, he also told me that they haven't started construction yet!

You can bet it's anybody's guess right now. And with the economy, it's probably not the best time to launch a new product anyway. Who knows, maybe postpone till 2010. Let's face it, it's going to be a business decision. Sorry, I'm just sour right now. Here in western canada it's virtually impossible to find a decently priced mark if you can find any at all.

I guess I'll keep playing my gear and wait to sell it. :(

I spoke with GC regarding the Mark V and they said their MESA rep received about 500% more orders than they were expecting. My GC rep told me that MESA has plans to take the whole summer to manufacture the MARK V amps just to keep up with a 8-10 week waiting period. Consequently, my GC rep told me that it would be 5-12 months from the time I placed a MARK V order to the time it would be shipped.

It's good to be MESA right about now.
