Flextone 3+, which is a great studio amp.
I was fortunate to see him in concert several times. I think the best show I attended was in a small theater that seats approx 1800 about 15 years ago. He had a simple pedal array, just a couple of pedals-one being a wah. And I noticed something attached to the wah that kept catching my...
Lonestar Classic 2x12 w 2x12 ext cab - original owner - custom ordered in 2005 - all Black Shadows - ext cab is currently set up as closed back but it's convertible.
Amp comes with a road case, ext cab comes with a cover.
Amp has always been cased & garaged and ext cab kept in my home studio...
Mine stays very clean and punches right thru the live mix. I use the clean channel for my Ric 12 string, with a Janglebox compressor, and it's magical. I've always kept mine set on 50 watts.
I'm about 7 years into my LSC 2 x 12 combo and if I was doing it all over again I'd get a head/cab rig just to shave off the weight. The LSC is a great amp but as everyone knows it's a beast on wheels. But I love it! In addition to all the good stuff with 6 strings that amp produces the best...
Am giving thought to selling my Lonestar rig and getting a Z Wreck.
I'd keep the Mesa and get the Z but I don't have the physical space to store both rigs.
Am I crazy to think such a thought?
I sat in with my old band a while back...the guitarist handed me his Eric Johnson Strat which was plugged into his Fuchs 50/100 ODS w 2 x 12 cab. I was amazed at both the Strat and the Fuchs. And I though my Lonestar short stack was killer! The Fuchs wins. Odd thing though...HE recently...
Sounds like a good excuse to tune in Eb and bump up to 14 ga strings!
but seriously...might tighten up all the screws and bolts and see if that makes a difference...
and to rule out the room try the amp in a different room.
Closed back ext cab for me. Sometimes I stack it, sometimes I split the cabs. It's a really nice sound when they're split wide. 2 x 12 Black Shadows in both.
TRS connectors...(stereo) and NO don't get the cheapest one money can buy. Not if you expect it to work when you stomp on it. It's gonna suck if you're footswitch doesn't work at a gig because you bought the cheapest cable out there. (From experience with this problem) I suggest you get the...
The amp is self biasing. Buy the tubes you prefer, in matched pairs, and put them in.
PS: It's a lot easier if you turn the amp upside down...really. I put a towel over my road case and turn the amp upside down on the top of the case...get's it at a working height and takes about 2 min to...
Here's my method for keeping the footswitch alive and happy. Shoot some contact cleaner into the footswitch input jack and twist the connector to clean the contact points. Do the same at the amp end. I do that about once a month. Can't explain why it needs it - have taken the switch apart...
The footswitch cable that came with my Lonestar was a somewhat cheap, super flexy cable crapped that out within a month. Just get a good quality TRS cable (Stereo cable) and you should be good to go. The footswitch itself, and the inner components, are well designed for years of stomping so...
