DC gain structure... more Mark or Recto?

I think the DC5 can get close to a MK IV lead wise…

    Dc-5 in the shop

I’ve been running my DC5 without the preamp tube protector for years.

    DC-3 interactive eq

3 years later...(I haven't been on here for longer than that), according to the manual, 1-5 the mid control is like a normal mid, after that it adds gain and starts to accentuate the high mids more. This is only on the rhythm channel.

Want different tone & less volume out of my DC5

Pull the gain pot and set it relatively high. You will have to use the GEQ to shape the tone though as the boost is created by removing the pre distortion tone stack from the circuit. If the tone stack is removed, why does the manual say to set treble and mid high and bass and presence low...

    Slight volume drop in dc-3

Check fx loop. Plug a patch cable in, next would be a preamp tube.

WEIRD behavior with Caliber .50 plus - like 'gating' effect!

My first suggestion would be to put a cable in th fx loop. oops, sorry didn't read your post all the way thru!

Just bought a used dc 5 and have some ?'s

I liked what they did for the rhythm channel (but i don't really use a *clean* sound), the lead channel, not so much, made it too squishy, didn't cut.

    Mark 11C upgrade to C+

wow, I never even heard Mesa was releasing the MK10!

Just bought a used dc 5 and have some ?'s

If that's the one I'm thinking of, it has Yellowjackets or Substitubes in it, those are adapters to allow EL84's to be used. The amp is meant to use 6L6's. Pull out the entire setup and use 6L6's (if you want). I used Substitubes on mine for a while. Went back to 6L6's.
  10. F

    EL84's in a 50 caliber + ?

"+" symbol does not necessarily mean 6L6. Some "+" 's were made wEL84's.

    Parallel out

I'm a little fuzzy on this, if I connect an 8 ohm speaker to the parallel out on my 8 ohm 2x12, what is the ohmage the amp will see?

Need help on buying first Mesa...

Are you kidding? I guess you never listened to Ozzy's "Speak of the Devil", Brad Gillis playing through 2 MKIIB's, separated by a stereo chorus. Absolutely killer rock tone!

    DC5 Mod

It helped a *little* bit at wife volume, but I don't notice enough difference at band volume to say it's a must. I'd have left it alone if I had known the lack of difference. but that's just me...

Just Saw Night Ranger-lots of Boogies on stage

I know when he was with Ozzy it was two MKII"B"'s separated by a stereo chorus pedal. Glad to hear he's still using Boogies!

Replace a MK III or Try a DC-5?

I don't think I would ever describe the DC-5 as grainy, in fact if anything I think it's a touch too smooth! Talking lead channel here...

Volume drop on my "new" DC-5

I would start testing pre tubes 1 slot at a time with a known good tube.

    ''Caliber history''

The Palomino and the Maverick are both in my catalog.

    Simul Class Mod?

He doesn't have "class A sockets". The Substitubes are like THD Yellowjackets.
