Volume drop on my "new" DC-5

I picked up a used DC-5 last week from a local shop. I love this thing. But yesterday at practice I kept having a BIG volume drop at random times. I would turn it off for a bit, or smack it on top and the volume would return. i gotta figure out what is goin on, can't have this kind of stuff happening on stage. Am I right to think it could be power tubes going out. Please advise.

I would start testing pre tubes 1 slot at a time with a known good tube.

Never had that problem with mine (*looks around for wood to knock*).

Sounds like a tube problem for sure. Replace ALL tubes and continue to jam on.
