Just bought a recto 4x12 cab. What a waste of $899... Help?

there is no way your cab should be farting out. i can turn my triple's output knob past 12 o clock with the red channel master at about 9:30 in modern mode......with the bass knob maxed...yes maxed....and my oversized recto cab with v30's doesn't fart out one bit. like someone else said you can...

    CLEANING UP MY SOUND

in addition to replacing the power tubes check the inner support of your cab. take off one of the handles and inside you'll see a board that connects horizontally to the back panel and the speaker baffle board. mesa glues these supports to the back panel and after some hard playing they can...

A\B\Y box for Mesa Rectifiers and another amp

The 9v is for the LED's only and will work without it. The pedal is totally passive.

    Recto w/ E-34Ls!!!....the HOLY GRAIL?!?!

If you like the EL34's or the E34L's do yourself a favor and try the KT 77's. I've been using them in my Triple since March and I'm very pleased with the tone I'm getting. To me they really are the best of both worlds.

    WOOFY SOUND. HELP!!!!

I'm willing to bet the EMG 85 is the culprit. I had the same problem when I switched the pups around in my mahogany LTD. Try an 81 if you can.

    I'm Hating My Triple Rectifier

It sounds like to me that you are looking for a "tighter" feel and a faster pick responce with more articulation. The Fireball, and all ENGL's from what I've read, are supposedly very tight almost solid stateish feeling and sounding amps. But I've heard Recto's that sounded almost as tight if...

Triple Rec running on 4 tubes

I contacted Mesa once about this and the tech told me that in fact you could remove a set of power tubes from the triple rec. He said if you are normally running 8 ohm, to change it to 4ohm. I don't know if that is halfing or doubling. I think it's doubling the impedance. But anyways I've read...

    2x12 --> 4x12

So let me get this straight....you got an oversized (standard) mesa recto cab w/V30's mint condition for $230.00? That's a deal of a lifetime!!!

    Tubes Question

Not trying to hijack the thread but I tried a tung-sol in V1 of my triple rec and I would definately reccomend it. It's a very good sounding pre. I use a lot of gain and boost the front end of my amp with a TS9 but there is always some kind of top end fuzz that I can't quiet get out, no matter...

    effects w/boogie recto?

I hit the front end of my recto with a Keely TS9. output maxed, tone straight up, and gain all the way down. Works soooo good! Also I use just a little bit of BBE in the loop. That's it.

    Changing tubes on Triple Recto

You're welcome. Good luck with the Triple Rec. It's a beast once you get it dialed in.

    Changing tubes on Triple Recto

No problem. They're not stupid questions. The kit you listed above includes all of the preamp tubes and all the power tubes. The ECC83s is JJ's number for 12AX7 preamp tubes. There should be a sticker inside the amp chassis with the tube layout diagram printed on it. If not it's also in the...

    Changing tubes on Triple Recto

I play in a metal band also and do a lot of palm mute chugging. I've always used 6L6's but recently I switched to the JJ KT77. To me they offer a tighter low end and more of a EL34 mid tone since they are in the EL34 tube family. The highs are smoother also and cuts down a lot of the recto fizz...

Need more mids on my Dual Rec 3 Channel

What cab and speakers are you using? Something with V30's may help....if you're not already using them.

    Changing tubes on Triple Recto

When in doubt just replace all of the tubes. I know it's a little pricey on a Triple Rec but it will be well worth it. Also you don't have to use Mesa labeled tubes....which are really overpriced. There are several good tube vendors on the net that will fix you right up. Doug at...

My clean channel on my DR is to quiet!!!

If you have your loop engaged the clean channel is gonna be quieter than the orange and red channels, especially if you are running them on modern. At least that's the way my triple works. If this is the case then try turning the output to noon or higher and then backing way down on the orange...

Mesa Triple recto 3 ch questions

I contacted Mesa about this also and the tech told me the same thing. But like Platypus said, you also have to match the speaker impedance. The tech said if I was using 8ohm out then I would need to use 4ohm out when I pulled the two tubes. You need to "half" the number of ohms, which if I'm...

how did you get your mesa?

Hello all This is my first post. I've been lurking here for a while and decided it's time to join in on the fun. To make a long story short....I got my Mesa gear when I came out on top of an insurance settlement. Lightning hit my house back in '01 and after replacing all the stuff that got...
