    Mark lll reverb mod ?

I think with the number of great reverb units available on the market (e.g. the Wet) it wouldn't be necessary. The reverb on my Mark III, even with all the reverb mods, was functional at best. I always use the Wet in the loop instead.

To all Mark III RED stripe users (w/ pics) -> c30 mod

I would love to help, but I had a tech mod my red stripe a few months ago as per some other posts on this forum (the III+ mod) and this changed the C30, as well as a couple of other caps. fwiw the mod was well worth it.

    Replacement pot for Mark III

Thanks guys. kdorsey, are you sure it is linear taper? I thought it would be log.

    Replacement pot for Mark III

Well, after just returning from a jam where my old 60w Mark III stole the show, I slipped carrying my amp and sheared of the volume/pull bright knob (the left-most pot when looking at the amp). Can anyone point me towards an exact replacement? I live in Australia but assume I'll have to get one...

My Mark III dodged a bullet...yet again

I retubed it only a few months ago and it has had very little use since then.

    Mark III; Pentode/Triode switch mod

I had it done to my 60w red stripe Mark III. The difference is as you describe: smoother and more compressed on Triode and harder/cleaner on Pentode. I usually keep it on Triode for mucking around at home and flick it to Pentode if I'm cranking. It's a very worthwhile mod.

My Mark III dodged a bullet...yet again

I do have an MXR 6 band in the loop, but usually only use it if I'm mucking around at low volume. I'm going to build a Thiele cab for the EVM.

My Mark III dodged a bullet...yet again

A couple of weeks ago I picked up an Egnator Tweaker head for cheap, and since then my Mark III combo has had its head on the block. I truly can't get a bad sound out of the Tweaker, and it reminded me of simple times before I got the Mark a decade or so ago, when I plugged in to my...

mark iic+ with only 2 power tubes?....

I presume it is a 60w with two 6L6s. I have a 60w red stripe Mark III with no eq and it is a great amp. I presume the IIC+ would be even more so. Other than the tonal difference provided by the Simulclass option, I can't imagine anyone needing more than 60 watts of Boogie. I had my tech do a...

Mark III, IV caps NEVER need to be replaced???

Last time I had my red stripe Mark III (circa 1986) at the tech, who is one of the most respected amp builders and repairers in Australia, I asked him to do a recap while it was in, even though the caps looked fine. He essentially laughed me off and dismissed it as a fad. I directed him to...

Any Mark III users (or others) NOT using graphic EQ?

It depends on style, I guess. Most of the guys going for a metal tone love sucking the mids out, which has it's place, but isn't something I'm interested in. I have a 60w no eq, and it's perfect for blues/rock stuff that I play (with mainly single coil guitars). If I had an eq I'd probably use...

GOOD transformer re-winds + circuit work in Australia

Another shout out for BJ. He's done all the work I've needed to various Fenders, Marshalls and Boogies I've loved and lost over the years. McBarry: Bungendore? Who would have thought such a sweet little town would harbour an amp guru?

    Upgrading a Mk 2C 60 watt to 100 watt ?

FWIW, As the owner of both a 55w Nomad (2X12) and a 60w Mark III, the latter is a far louder amp with far more headroom. Knowing what my 60w Mark III is capable of, I have no idea why anyone would need 100w.

    Mark III Pull Bright Problem

Thanks for the reply. I probably will take it back to the tech. Cheers

    Mark III Pull Bright Problem

Hi guys, It seems that the pull bright on my Mark III isn't doing anything anymore. I've tried with treble and volume one at different settings with no success (as the strength of the effect depended on these). I just recently had my amp back after a service and I don't really want the 2 hour...

    Mark III Technical Questions

Regarding Presence: In contrast to just about every other post on this board, I usually run mine high (8 or so), but the trick is you have to drop the treble setting (I use about 5) and not use the pull bright on the lead channel. If I run it from 1-3 like many people seem to, the amp doesn't...

What does TWEED POWER technically do?

    Thanks again for your advice.

What does TWEED POWER technically do?

If tweed power is the same as using a variac, does this mean that I can lower the voltage on the export transformer on my 60w Mark III and get the same effect? In Australia we operate at 240v, which is the highest setting on the transformer. Can I try going lower to get a 'browner' sound or will...

    Mark III with fried resistors

Boogiebabies, Thanks very much for your offer. Living in the US certainly would be cheaper when it comes to buying and maintaining guitars and amps! Cheers

    Mark III with fried resistors

Thanks guys. I actually live in Australia, so shipping may be a bit costly! You guys have convinced me that I need to take it to a tech (I have no idea how to adjust bias), and I will do so later this week. Also, on a related note, I read with interest about some people converting their Mark...
