I am interested in selling it, but I am trying to figure out the exact model and what it is worth. Is it a Coliseum 300? Mark? There is a purple mark on the back that probably used to be black, so I am guessing it is a black stripe. Any information is greatly appreciated!

It's a Widebody Mark III "Black Stripe" with all the trimmings. Simul/EQ/Reverb. It is not a Coli. Those would have 6 power tubes. You can probably expect get $800-$1000 depending on if it has been serviced and retubed. Condition appears to be good but not great.

Correction - "Purple stripe"

Thanks for the info. I am surprised you say it could be worth as low as $800, but I guess you would know better than I as I am pretty unfamiliar with these. It hasn't been worked on in the last 15 years, I don't know if anything was done before that.

The market for all used music gear is pretty soft especially around xmas. If you want to get more for it, find a Mesa tech and get it cleaned up and checked out. Then post the receipt with the amp when you list it. An amp that old will likely need some minor work and new tubes. You can probably get it a clean bill of health for around $60-75 unless it needs parts/tubes/repairs.

Here's the reference for dating and "Striping" by serial #

- black ('85~'86): 15001 to 16715
- purple ('86): 16657 to 19059
- red ('87): 19100 to 21863
- blue ('88): 21825 to 24933
- green ('89~'9?): 24940 to 28384

Definitely get those tubes checked out - pretty sure Boogie haven't used coloured print on their 6L6s for quite a few years and those '34s look pretty haggard.

Those two inner power tubes are likely STR-415 6L6s and go for $50-75 each.
The outer STR-440s are not-so-great Russian EL-34s from the same era, early to mid-90s. Buy a new set of power tubes and do a comparison test. Trust your ears. Those original tubes may not have a lot of wear despite their age, and should at least be good for spares. Let me know if you want to sell the inner pair. :D

Great amp by the way! I have "purple stripe" that I'm also picking up in about a week.

Bottle rocket, what did you pay for your purple stripe?
Thanks for the information everybody!

FYI. Here's a sampling of loaded Mark III's from Craigslist around the country. The asking range is from $650 to $1050 (with ext cab).

Early on in the thread, the amp was referred to as "loaded' including Reverb. Unless my eyesight is wrong, there is no Reverb knob and the reverb print is blacked out with marker. It appears to my old eyes to not have reverb, while having GEQ and simulclass.

though, maybe I am just going blind......

The Widebody MK III has the reverb knob on the front to the left of the GEQ. The rear plate has the "Reverb" hole covered because they used the same rear plates for both the wide and short versions.

Thanks again for all the help. I'll probably try to sell it, as it doesn't get much use. I see there is a red strip on ebay for $1250 right now.

They came from a thread on this board.

These serial numbers still seem to be wacky and all over the place when reading all the past threads in this forum. My "purple stripe" is more within reason though as it's higher then the number listed here but just falls a digit or so of the 19100#. Some folks here who have blue stripes in the black to purple phase timeline and green in the blue phase and so on. Sometimes I wonder if the marker stripes have become truly just that--" a mark of its vintage", rather then a significance in anything. It's all in the mind...Jedi.

Best,
~Nep~
