There are some harsh critics out there. Someone gets a mark V and is bullied into making some clips because the majority of us want to hear the amp because we don't have ours yet. Then the reviews come in:

"That was sh!t! Somebody shoot this guy in his left hand so he can't play guitar."
"Well the guy got to show off his noodling skills for a minute. As a showcase for the amp it was useless though"
"Got to agree. Thought this was the worst clip yet. Don't mean to be lame about it but everything about the clip sounded bad. Looks like it will be up to me to put some clips together when mine finally arrives!!"

What are the top 2 qualities you are looking for when watching someone's clip? Amp integration with cabs, guitar, fx? Demo of all channels/modes running over stock riffs? A/B'ing the V with a IV and/or a IIc+? Metal riffs played over and over followed by a "what is metal" discussion? What is it? We've heard the gripes, what are you people looking for? When I get my head I will post a clip, but if someone knocks it, oh... I don't know what I'll do, but it will be non-threatening! :?

I'm thinking, don't sweat it. Some will like your clip and some will hate it. Posting clips to make people happy seems to be the wrong way to go IMHO.

When you get the amp, I think you'll be so happy with it, that you'll post your clip and then get back to jamming.

I've noticed one trend in clip postings, those who post with a slow smooth delay effect, get great reviews no matter how bad the clip sounds. Just my thoughts though...

+1

I'm sure the rubbish I post wont please everyone. I though the sound/video quality wasn't that good. By no means was I talking about his playing. I would never trash someone's ability to play. It is way too personal. I think we are all clammering for our amps so badly that we want more than can be delivered right now. I till all subside soon.

I would suggest taking the mesa notes on "instant gratification" for each channel then run the same riff through them all. If you are using youtube, then video the settings as you play each riff and build a mini video. The put all of the different settings into one larger video Don't worry about style, just make sure the amp rings loud and true.

Personally, I would like to see the owners who are in cover bands that need the V for its versatility go into tones they use in their cover band. If you play Floyd, AC/DC, Van Halen, (those 3 right there could demo the V's 3 channels well for anyone!), etc. Put it in practical terms for us... and remember to use delay! :p

Honestly I like any video where it showcases the gear used, with 30 seconds of a given style played. It allows me to hear the tone and settings in context.

I recognize there is an issue with new owners dialing in a tone, then accurately recording it with a webcam or whatnot as well. That is fine in my mind, but I think some people can't see past it.

As long as the gear used (guitar, pickups, effects and amp) plus all settings are noted I don't care what they play. In fact, it has been nice to see people playing stuff I wouldn't normally pay attention to as it showcases the diversity of the amp, and gives me ideas of what I will or won't try and do with the amp.

Whatever anyone is willing to post online that showcases the Mark V being played is great and I encourage people to continue to post.

i agree with all of this... all clips are enlightening and informative in some way. All the different settings, guitars, mics, mic positions, styles, room sizes/materials, techniques, etc, let us hear all kind of tonal possibilities...

i want to see a clip of me plaing it! :D
seriously though i'd really like to see someone who practices (not plays) for say three hours a day on it...
i dont want to use my imagination, shitty playing equalls overall ****.

i'd like to see bulb playing all new materials on it for rhythm, and brian maillard playing some solos

I'd like to hear different tones it can do. I dont trash em, certainly don't like them all, but if someone feels is a good one to them, then i'll listen.

personally i like to hear more riffage, as everyone looooves to say "look at me i can play fast" (i am guilty of this, but only on stage. If someones gonna make clips they should make a "solo" and a "rhythm" one, or at least go back and forth spending enough time on both. (i also like to here open chords... the classic G A D, or G C D combinations, and riffs that we can reference) of course the description should be mentioned in youtube... there are too many options on the the V, and someone might go this sucks.. but its because its in 10 watts, variac... and they wanna hear 90 watts full, at least we'd know then)

oh and I really wanna hear EL34's in it, i know rabies does too!

Side by side comparison of the Mark V and the Mark IV. Not that I would care too much - but there are enough people wailing on about the differences between the amps - it would be nice to hear someone who is qualified in Mark amp history and knowledge give a good run through. All channels BTW. Not just super high gained out channel 3.
