Hey all,

I just got a new triple rectifier and I find that its internal fan is quite loud. I have other rectifiers that have absolutely no fan noise and so I’m wondering is something is amiss with mine. Here a video demonstrating the noise of the brand new multiwatt triple in comparison to my rev G triple and multiwatt dual. I’d love to hear some thoughts/suggestions as I find it really bothersome in a studio setting.

New to the forum, by the way!

That's certainly loud.

If it helps any I made a post sometime ago about upgrading the crappy stock fan in my old Stiletto Ace combo after it started making a clicking noise through the speaker.

If this fan runs off mains voltage that probably won't help but it might be worth a look.

Thanks for the tip. I will certainly look into that. I have a hard time believing my level of fan noise is normal. I have half a dozen other Mesa heads, including a rev G triple, and all of them are silent. If the multiwatt revision of the triple was uniquely noisy, I feel like that would generate some discussion online, and I cannot find any such discussion on any forum.

Perhaps that would suggest I just have a bad fan and replacing it would remedy the issue. I’m curious, why do you say that the fan running off the mains voltage make the swap not help? I’d imagine that a quieter fan is a quieter fan?
