Hetfield is God said:Hi, Boogie n00b here. What's the difference between the Mark IV short head and Medium head?
Would you guys say that the B model is better than the A model? More Gainy perhaps?
I was looking on Craigslist and a guy in my town is selling a Mark IV head B version for only $1300.

It's either the economy or the Mark V.
Of the last two dozen to sell on eBay, six went for less than $1200.

Yeah, I finally found one used locally this past Monday! (first post here)
It's in cherry shape other than some dust. Mark IV-B Medium Head.
It was selling for $1499 tho. I traded in my 2 Marshall JCM800 2203 heads on it.
I've been a Marshall addict for years, particularly the 2203s, but have been a closet luster for the Mark IV
since I played one in a store back in 1990-91(?) but could never scratch up enough cash for one.
It's come full circle for me - I love it!
It's running the 4 6L6s right now, but I'm going to do the EL34/6L6 config here soon.
I can't wait to hear that, plus it seems like it would give me even more tonal versatility all from one head.

Congrats on the new amp, Phazer! It indeed looks like a B version judging from the stereo FX loop. Might want to call Mesa with the serial number to verify the production date. If it checks out in person and it's a good price I would not mention anything about the version to the seller. He may try to price hike if he finds out it's newer!
You can buy a replacement from Mesa. I think you'll have to call to order: (707) 778-6565.MrFingers said:Snagged my Mark IV a bit over a month ago for $1400 CAD. No idea how old it is. It's absolutely everything I have dreamed of in an amp, but my only gripe is that the "Boogie" nameplate is missing
1750 Euros is like 2440 US.... I don't even want to know what a bad price is. But hey if the tone is worth every penny that's all that matters.

Thanks for all the info everyone.
