Ok here are some clips I recorded in one take so sorry for quality.

All sounds from 58 VOS LP straight through Stiletto Ace 2x12.
Ironically, the settings I used in the video for the second channel are the 'instant gratification' settings in the manual :D

http://platypus.memoryfire.com/guitar/ace/cleanbloom.avi

This is the clean channel on Fat Clean mode using the neck pickup.. it's hard to hear in the sh!tty cam but the notes have such a bloom to them that seems to carry as long as you hold the note, I tried at the end of the vid to show how the sustain on the single notes acts.

http://platypus.memoryfire.com/guitar/ace/touch.avi

This is the same as above however I'm showing off the touch sensitivity of the mode, the harder you play the more precussive and snappy the notes become. This is one of my favorite solo modes.

http://platypus.memoryfire.com/guitar/ace/crunch.avi

This shows off the crunch mode of channel one with very low gain settings.
This mode has insane amounts of liquidy sustain to the notes and a very tight precussive snap, this was using the tube rectifier but in diode mode it's even more clippy and fun to play. This is great for bluesy stuff with the neck pickup, if you roll the tone completely off you get the 'sustain for ever' note that literally won't stop, cool for putting into an analog delay.

http://platypus.memoryfire.com/guitar/ace/tight.avi

This is the tight gain mode of channel 2 and the first clip of channel 2's capabilities. There are literally 5 combinations I've found already that produce perfect tones with no effort at all. This is obviously the perfect mode for AC/DC in my opinion though I add more bass and gain than is neccesary for AC/DC in the clip, I just like the sound more :p, Sabbath using the blend or neck pickup too.

http://platypus.memoryfire.com/guitar/ace/lemon.avi

This is the fluid drive mode, one of the most fun on the amp for sure. Here's a bit of the Lemon Song by Zep to show off how close it nails that tone, esp at reasonable volume levels.

http://platypus.memoryfire.com/guitar/ace/neckbridge.avi

Same settings as above but I'm alternating between the neck and bridge pickup doing a little solo riff.

http://platypus.memoryfire.com/guitar/ace/lowvol.avi

Same as above again however this time I've rolled the volume back to show how it sounds on low volumes.. I love this sound, has a nice chewy wood tone and sustains for miles. This is probably my favorite setting at this point.

I hope those were helpful to you guys, the crazy thing is that this is just one setting on this amp, I haven't even begun to mess around with it, it just sounds that good out of the box.

nails it perfectly within 30 seconds of turning it on.

Uh oh. That was the wrong thing to say. :D

How come :p

I've been GAS'ing for a head that will get "brown". Maybe an old Marshall or one of the kits available over at metro amp. But if there's a Boogie out there that'll get me well into the neighborhood, I'll want it all the more.

Sounds awesome Plat!

I think I might be looking into one of those in the future.

Could you do some more modern...hard rock type tones? If you have time ofcourse

Yeah, I'll get out my PRS for that and use the Bold power setting with diodes sometime soon for you :) This was def vintage settings

Here are two really cool modern high gain settings I was messing around with today. This amp can get f' mean.. I plugged my PRS Custom 22 straight into the amp and these were the result.

http://platypus.memoryfire.com/guitar/ace/high1.avi

Some stupid riff I made up with the tone pot completely rolled off, full volume and neck pickup. During the awkward pause (lol) I switch to the bridge pickup so you can hear how much grind this thing has. This makes an awesome stoner rock sound.. it's even better with my Skreddy fuzz into the clean with my LP, it just sounds so lo-fi if you want it to.

http://platypus.memoryfire.com/guitar/ace/high2.avi

Here's a sloppy cover of the chorus from Vicarious by tool.. or close to it as I remember it.. I guess I wanted to show off how much this amp could get into recto territory, esp with how much low end this cab puts out. Listen to the sheer amount of high gain grind in the chords with the tone back on full. This is bridge with full vol/tone.

There are a lot more sounds out there I haven't even begun to find, these were literally my first guesses at how I'd EQ it and just going for it. The second channel was used on all clips with the diode rectifier setting.

Just got it home, pics to come in a few after I stop laughing. I played the two side by side (for those of you who didn't know, was regretting getting the 2x12 over the 1x12) and honestly there was a difference... but it was subtle as hell. It wasn't nearly as drastic as the stuff I'd read and honestly, I think it sounded BETTER.. way more wallop to the notes.

So stoked right now.. pics within the hour!

Glad you like the Ace . Remember i said not to read too much into what others have said . Its only opinions . Trust your ears ! Everyone runs down the Stiletto Deuce series I but i get a great sound out of it . I only use crunch in channel 1 and tite gain in channel 2 . I dont really give hoot what people say about it as long as I can get what i'm after . Go to my web page at www.toyzzband.com and click on feel like makin love and doctor doctor and let me know what you think . If you dont care for it it wont hurt my feelings .

I think the Stiletto Deuce series I was a great amp in retrospect, it just needs volume. I have given it a less than shining review in the past and returned mine.. looking back I should have kept it for the $ but then I wouldn't have my Ace, which I like better for my style.

Good chops, I dig the tone

DUDE! My neck hurts from watching that. LMAO BUT she sounds sweet. I have a thing for 50 watt amps. And it seems that the Ace is a serious contender. Nice tool lick on the last clip there too. One of my all time fave bands.
Enjoy the Ace you lucky SOB.

Hummy

Great tone there, Barry! I think alot of people try out Mesa stuff without knowing how the various settings interact with each other and don't give 'em a fair chance.

Thanks;

Anyway you could post some clips on the fluid drive mode, doing some galloping and chunking riffs? Think master of puppets metallica? Thanks for posting this, im much more interested in this amp now, as the stilleto Duece didnt do it for me at all!

Cheers
