here is the super short version: GO BUY THIS CD NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

for those of you that want to hear a litte more read on......i went and downloaded this cd yesterday from amazon for $8.99......great price and since i got it on my computer I listened to it at work all the way thru and then burned a disc for my car and listened to all the way thru a couple of more times last night while doing some errands.

this cd is fabulous!!!!! let me break it down like this;

1) sonically it sounds great.....all of the instruments...not just guitar tone.....it's a very well recorded cd....in fact, it sounds so good that it wouLD appeal to me to listen to just because of how well it was recorded.

2) specifically, the guitar tones are incredible.....gonzo has done a masterful job of creating a number of great tones out of his boogie....never harsh, never dull.....but always right in your face in a powerful but pleasant way.......his use of effects are spot on.....guitar is dry and in your face when needed and wet and ambient when needed by the song.

3) the performances are to die for.......great guitar playing.......some of the bass parts are off the charts creative......and I found myself at times focsuing on the great bass playing a great deal. vocally I love gonzo's unique voice.....it fits the songwriting extremely well and i love great singers that dont sound like the next guy down the street.

4) the songs are extremely well written......just when you think you know where it's going BOOM here's a big ole arrangement curve ball for ya!!!! LOL....it's great to my ears though becuase I get so tired of the same ole songwriting cliches.....batsbrew is very unique from a songwriting standpoint and how the songs are arranged. some of the changes and chord sequences remind me of the quirkiness of steve vai and other folks that seem to be willing to break that typical verse, chorus, verse, chorus bridge, chrous fourmula.

I just cant emphasize enough how strongly I recommend to my fellow boogie board members to guy buy this CD. Great use of a boogie amp.....great songwriting and we need to support our fellow artists.....this cd is certainly deserving of our support......I dont know gonzo at all and simply have become a fan of his songs via the posts on this board....i just know that I am extremely pleased that I went ahead and bought this cd......i hope you guys go do the same..........WELL DONE GONZO!!!!!!!!

here's some info on the album..... i did put a link for it in the off topic forum, but thought i'd put it here, just to tie masque's review into something that makes sense if you hadn't seen the other post:

bulk of this baby was done with my trusty Mesa Boogie Mark2b head.....
i'd love to answer any questions about the amp and the recording processes.....

yeh gonzo if you ever want to sell that ibanez my brother may be interested.

I've mentioned this before but that Ibanez is beautiful. Of course it would be because I own one just like it, LOL, same colour and all except mine has the pearl tuners...... . I'm partial to Carvin gear and Carvin guitars. Love that Carvin you've got. I don't own a Carvin guitar but I will buy one eventually. I do, however own a Carvin Quad X-amp..... and a Mesa Quad....

As for the CD..... now I'm curious. I think I'll have to lash out. What res are the MP3 files? I couldn't find any info. I'd rather buy the CD but to ship to Australia it costs 3/4 the price of the CD!

Anyway, congrats on the CD. Sounds great from the music you've been posting over time.

i probably will always hold onto this one, i sold my original 2619, which i've always regretted.
keep an eye out, once in a while one will pop up.
i got mine for a super price.
i think it was mis-marked at GC, as a consignment.

blaklynx
yep, ibanez artist owners, especially of the more vintage ones, understand what makes them special.
this one, for me, really is a les paul killer.

the cd......
it's on Itunes, Amazon.com, and a few other places.
i know, when i upload the original 16bit mastered wav files to cdbaby, they convert it to 256 VBR mp3's, not the best (i like 320 myself) but better than most others.
i can only assume the files they send apple and amazon and all the others, are the same files.
check the shipping to australia tho, usually the cost of the cd on the cdbaby site include the shipping, and i'm not sure if they add extra on or not.

thanks for the interest
