I'm looking to cut down the wattage of my Lonestar Classic v2 (10/50/100)

I've read many of the YellowJacket threads and Charles Reeder's recommendations.

I currently have EL34s in all 4 slots. I am thinking of replacing 1 & 4 with YellowJackets and leaving 2 & 3 empty. I generally run in the 50 watt rectified setting which I believe uses power tubes 1 & 4.

Is the above safe?

After installing the YellowJackets do I need to switch the bias to 6L6 (from EL34)?

I wouldn't leave the inner slots empty. I don't know for sure, but I think that's bad. You could fill them with tubes that match whatever bias setting you're set to (EL34 or 6L6), and they'll last forever because, yes, they aren't in use. But I am pretty sure you need something in there.

As to the bias setting for YJs, the adapters handle the bias setting themselves, so it really just depends on what you've got in the inner slots. :) Either setting works, and I don't think it makes a difference as far as the YJs go.
