I've got a Rectoverb combo and a DC-3 shorthead that I'm highly considering selling to fund a Mark V purchase. I love both of these amps, but I cannot afford to keep these amps and buy a Mark V. As usual I have to sell stuff to afford new stuff when we are talking about expensive amps! I'll be keeping my 1x12 3/4 back for use with the Mark V as I like the size/portability/tone and a Mark V head will sit on top nicely.

Should I go for it or am I insane?! I'm mesmerized by the Lonestar cleans, 9 modes, and 3 channels. So many tones available in one awesome amp...

Don't do it! I've been back and forth about giving up my IV for one also. If you've fought off the GAS for this long, wait a little longer. (You know there is going to be a revision public or otherwise)

why not wait it out until namm. it'll give you time to think it through, and gather some money from the holidays that might allow you to save one of your amps. and if they do any revisions for namm you'll get that .. unless you really want the current one than get on it!

try one as many times as you can........ to be able to play jazz, metal and anything in between with one amp is just amazing :D

seen the 40th anniversaty limited edition reassures anyone that this amp is here to stay the way it is

goodluck

i've played one several times at the store and I have two friends with one. One of the friends is coming over with his Mark V head tonight so I can hook it up to my 3/4 back and plug up my guitars here in my apartment where I'm used to hearing my other amps. This will be the deciding factor...

I think if you get a Mark V, you'll be very happy you did. I have a Lone Star Classic, and Special, and a Roadster. I just got a Mark V head, and it just blows my others away. The versatility is so much better on the V, but that's not what got me, it's the tone. I find the cleans are even better than the Lone Star's, (or Roadster) and the lead tones are far better than either the Lone Stars or the Roadster. With the 40th Anniv edition just coming out, I can't see that they would be thinking about revisions any time soon. If so, they would have waited to have the 40th edition have them. Go for it! You won't regret it.

I didn't sell off my MKIIC+. I kept it and now I am running in glorious stereo once again.

I sold my mark IV to get the V and I don't regret it all, you can sell you Boss GT8 too, you won't need unless you use it for effects only
I would go for it, Are you trying to get the Head or the Combo?

I'm getting the head version for sure. My buddy just left with his Mark V head (I tried to get him to leave it but he didn't go for it) and I'm very impressed! I love every mode/channel even more since hearing it at home with my own guitars and cab! It blows my other amps away. Now I just gotta sell my amps!

The GT-8 is for effects mostly, but I might let it go since I won't need anything more than delay with this amp. Not sure though. If it could switch 3 channels instead of just 2 it would stay for sure. We'll see what happens.

Have you tried the Electrodyne yet? I think I'd have to give the ED a go before I committed to the Mark V. It's been a few months and all I've read is rave reviews.

At this point I'm happy with my Mk IV and trying to avoid the Mesa section at GC!!! :|

Go for it! You won't regret the MKV. I was lucky enough to have kept my IV short chassis head. I just plugged it in yesterday for the first time in 4 month and it blew me away. Don't get me wrong I love my MKV, best amp I've owned.

Ah if you're looking for a great delay, I'd try an Eventide Time Factor...freaking bee's knees

+1. In fact, it's better than the bee's knees. Much better.

Better than the Nova Delay?

Personally, playing all of those, I wouldn't really say one is better than another. It still depends on what type of cleans you want. They are voiced rather differently IMHO...

Better than the Nova Delay?

I've had the experience of owning both, and at the moment, I feel that the Timefactor has the edge on the Nova. It could be just because I'm still in the "honeymoon" phase, but I am a player who not only just uses straight delay, or delay with a bit of chorus, but also likes to be a bit creative. Straight out of the box, they have a preset setup with a similar effect to the "Angelic Echoes" effect (used on DT's "Great Debate" in the intro sequence) that Eventide have on more pricey units, which is a big plus as I like to use the delays and sounds for soundscapes sometimes. I prefer the fact I can have 2 delays footswitchable right away, and scroll the banks with the right, but disliked Nova's "hold the right footswitch then click to scroll". In a live situation, I can't tell you how many times I messed that up! The quality of both pedals are roughly the same, but the way the delays tail on the Eventide are much nicer than the Nova's. And MIDI, for when I expand my setup (one can hope!)

I sold the Nova to my mate to buy the Eventide, and haven't looked back. Enough said.

Well, I made a call to a somewhat local Mesa dealer and they just got one in this week so I pulled the trigger already. It will be here tomorrow! Now I HAVE to sell my RoV and DC!!!!!
