    Mark V v.s. Mark IV

That's a strong statement. I would consider it the Mark V's 'take' on the Mark IV, it isn't exact but you can get it close to fooling a lot of people.

I'm starting to HATE Mesa Boogie

It sounds like you've got a lemon... This is what happens sometimes with hand built amps, I can understand your frustration but abandoning a company because of bad luck isn't necessarily a great reason. Cut to the chase and request a totally new amp.

Delay and Chorus pedals for my Mark V head

Buy a timefactor from Eventide or the blue lovepedal. The delay from Eventide is absurd and super versatile and you can program it to have an amazing chorus, everything from Eric Johnson sounds to leslie sounding modulation... The blue lovepedal (I'm forgetting the name, I think it's called a...

    Bad sounding MK V combo

HOw long have you had the amp? It sounds like you just need to spend some more time with it. I've had mine for over 6 months and have been fiddling with settings since I got it, but at this point I'm super happy with channel's 1 and 3, still working on 2 though. UIt takes time man, try a...

    Mark V with a 7 string?

You'll be fine. I screw around with my roommates 7-string Ibanez for fun and it has no problem handling the low B.

Still struggling with harsh frequencies I can't dial out...

I think it's pretty clear when playing in the upper register of the guitar or open chords. SO when you hear either of those things you can hear how the sound is smoothed out on the top end. Usually, when you play an open chord you can get some grit from the top strings and when you hear it...

Still struggling with harsh frequencies I can't dial out...

Agreed, I bought a Port City with the same speakers and it's whole other beast! I love it. Actually, at the end of this video (last 4 minutes or so) is Ch.3 through the PC with those speakers... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HA30bXYfArg

    Mark V in action!

Good question Jiveman. I think it really depends on your pups and how free you like to be with the gain. I have my gain at maybe 2-3 o' clock here, probably 2ish and I'm using the BB to compress/drive it just a little bit more. If you uped the gain to 5ish on the Mark IV mode with the right...

    Mark V in action!

Hey man, even better... I got a lot of my presets from this guy here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQ6A1e-pKZA Download those to your unit then tweak them, they are pretty close to what I'm using now though! Good luck, it's an amazing pedal.

Is it just me or is the Mark V having some issues???

I don't know, I've never had a real issue. I would agree with the previous post, it's like anything else on the internet, people come on to complain more than they do rant. Just the way it is and always has been

    footswitch or cable?

I've had a similar issue but with the Reverb, the blue light doesn't light up most of the time so I can't tell whether the Reverb is off or on when I'm standing further from the amp. I can't tell whether the cable is making a bad connection or it's the amp/FS

    Greg Howe Tone

Anyone have good settings for a Greg Howe esq tone? Referring to his Sound Proof days, in fact the song 'Sound Proof' is kind of the lead sound I'm after.

Channel 3 too muddy and missing compared to edge/crunch?

I would just keep your bass low and that usually gets rid of the 'muddiness'
