Randall Smith and Mesa Boogie Parting Ways??

I don't know who this in this video, so YMMV, but this guy is saying he was fired. Either way, this sucks.

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

I used to play one of those in the late 80's and loved it until it was ruined by my lead singer who decided to put his beer on the top of the amp while playing through it, then accidentally knocked it over, where it spilled through the vent on the top of the head. Oddly enough, when I moved to...

    Famous Mesa Boogie Player Pictures

I saw them on that tour as well. Their tone was absolutely brutal, which words just can't describe. The only other time I've "felt" that tone is when I saw Metallica front row at the LA Forum on the Black tour. My ears rang for a month.

    Mark II ID’ing

Maybe I'm wrong but I was under the impression that as soon as MB came up with the IIC+ circuit, all the amps afterwards came with it. The story I remember was that the lackluster sound of the IIC prompted MB to make the mod in the first place. That being said, I could be misremembering some of...

Mark Series EQ Slider Button - Help!

Does anyone know where I can find (or anyone here have a spare) one of the old EQ slider buttons for the Mark series that they no longer make? I have a C+ DRG where one of the buttons got knocked off and I think accidentally vacuumed up. If I can't find one, my last resort is to call up Mike B...

    Mesa Mark Series Comparisons! C++, 3's, 4's, V's & More!

It would be great if you could put on the screen (text overlay) which amp was which. Kinda like how you see in YT shootout videos. Maybe I missed something but I didn't know which amp was #1 and which amp was #2.

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

My buddy has a red stripe and being roommates for years, we were able to really A/B it with my DRG it to see how close it got and in our opinion, it was about 90% there. If I didn't have one and was in the market for one, I'd save my money and get a MKIII red stripe. A couple times, we hooked...

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

I really like that idea. Back in 2006, I bought a Metroamp 12-series Plexi kit and Mike Bendinelli built it for me. It's essentially a Friedman built by MB. I think I have the only true hand-wired, point to point Plexi clone to ever come out of Petaluma.

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

If I wanted a C+ at this point (I've had my DRG for 33 years), I'd save my money and buy a Mark III Red Stripe and send it back to MB to tweak it. My old roommate had a red stripe...that amp sounded great and got about 90% of the way there.

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

Now that you mention it, that sounds very familiar to what I heard (but my memory sucks, so YMMV). That being said, it seems like you could get anything you wanted built in China to specs for the right price. Look at the tubes, some of the best tubes were coming out of Soviet satellite countries...

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

IIRC, MB mentioned that the transformers were one of the things they couldn't source. I never understood why they couldn't just pull out their designs and just make more but then again, I don't build amps for a living.

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

I've had this conversation with Mike Bendinelli probably have a dozen times (a long time ago) and his answer was always the same, "It'll never happen. Partly because of political reasons and partly because they couldn't source the original components." Granted, this was before the MKV, JP-2C and...

The one guitar you regret most parting with?

For me, it's a toss up between a Rossington LP and a 1952 to 1959 LP Conversion. The top carve on the '52 was like a woman, it was insane.

    need some Marshall input.

Guitarzan was right on the money. Get a Metroamp, they kick total ass. Every sound from Lynch to VH to Eric Johnson is in there. I have one that was built by Mike Bendinelli from Mesa and it's my favorite amp. You won't be disappointed.

    Little boogie story!

How loud are you playing when this happens? Also, do you have the gain knobs dimed? As it was mentioned, ****** pickups will do this. Get a better set of pups and this should go away.

Help- building my own IIC+ preamp

Quoted for truth. If you need to ask these questions, you really don't want to be tinkering around with building your own circuit. You will seriously kill yourself.

    REAL C+ ?

It's getting to the point where scammers are onto the fact that you can sell something off as a C+ and make some nice money by being "ignorant"....hence my recommendation to call Boogie. I'm not sure what is being a "conspiracy theorist" about that. When you buy on the net, buyer beware and...

    Bogner vs Mesa

While I love Vai and what he does, he's a gear whore that will play anything with the right deal attached to it. Same as Lynch... I have one friend that is the endorsement rep for a major guitar company which has EVERYONE on their roster and I hear tons of stories on this issue. You can't go...

    REAL C+ ?

Get some gut shots from the seller and contact MB at Mesa. From what I know, an '85 would not have a 11XXX serial. That one falls way outside the range of C+'s IIRC. Auction looks funny to me.

If you could only have one guitar...

My Murphy-aged Rossington (#24) that I bought a couple months ago. Plays better than any guitar I've ever had and feels like a authentic 50's LP. It has totally re-invigorated my playing.
