    R2 - Yay or Nay

About using R2 properly... When I first got it, I wanted to use it for my heavy riffing tones...the few settings I tried that I found on the net weren't really pushing it hard enough for the application I was planning to use it for. After fucking with it, I managed to get the sound I wanted...

    Mark IV volume

I took someone else's advice to run the channel volumes on 8-10 and then just adjust the output to taste but what I noticed with that is the tone get's way too midrangy and thin sounding, so I opted to do the opposite ratio of volumes as indicated in my previous post.

    Mark IV volume

I tend to like keeping the channel volumes no higher than 3.5 or so...and then push the output to 5 - 7 or so. I always use pentode/full power and often simuclass when I'm jamming with the band, otherwise at home I use triode, tweed and class A.

    R2 - Yay or Nay

I gotta say I am really surprised with the reactions. When I first got my MK IV, I looked up some tones for MOP and AJFA type of tones but I wasn't really happy with what I got with R2. I began using my LEAD for my lead tone and then LEAD EQ for my scooped rhythem sound. Then I didn't want to...

    R2 - Yay or Nay

I don't understand what everyone's gripe is with R2 on the Mark IV. I find it more than adequete for heavy rhythm sounds. With pentode setting, and channel volume around 2-3 and a 5+ master volume on full power...add tubescreamer in front, engage the EQ and you're in AJFA territory. That's...

    Mark IV Footswitch Question

I don't know how other to explain but using the Lead channel is fine. Using the Lead EQ channel is fine. But I notice when I have the loop assignment off and I go to the LEAD channel, it looks like the button beside it (LEAD EQ) is a bit dim, although I am still playing on the LEAD channel.

    Mark IV Footswitch Question

Sorry, I meant to say on the footswitch. I notice this only when I've taken the loop FX off of being assigned to a channel. When I am on just the LEAD, the LEAD EQ button has a dim LED showing.

    Mark IV Footswitch Question

I noticed when I have my FX loop not assigned to any channels, when I am in LEAD mode the LEAD EQ LED has a dim light on. Is this common? I think near the end of the band practice I don't remember seeing it. Any idea what makes this happen? Anything to be concerned about?

    Mark IV - Quick Question

Does it make it less harmful if it was on standby? I'm guessing not based on your reaction.

    Mark IV - Quick Question

Had a band practice yesterday and while the amp was warming up on standby I was chattin with the other guitarist and when I went to flick the amp on, I didn't get any sound and realized the speaker cable wasn't pushed all the way into the head. It sounded fine for the practice, but I'm just...

Did anyone else just buy a Mark IV on a whim?

The shop in my neck of the woods let me borrow a stiletto duece stage II about a year ago. I brought it home, tried it out with my cabinet, pedals, guitars and such...and by the third day was up I was sold on it. Then after owning it for 3 weeks or so...I found myself trying to dial in mark iv...

    mark iv-can you try this?

The only time I get squealing on my mark iv is after I set it up at my drummer's place...it may take a couple minutes to dial in a tone for jamming levels and then another few to fine tune it and dial out the squeal. Usually, happens on RHY2 with my OD-9 on. Simply, roll back the treble...

Changing Preamp tubes on MK IV

How do you go about getting to the preamp tubes on the mark iv? I read somewhere before to remove the front grille to get to them...

Quirky thing about the Mark 4 I noticed

I find with the lead prescence pulled it really smooths out the lead tone and I seem to hear more of that...harmonic scream is maybe the right word. I sometimes like it pushed on a low volume setting, but most of the time, and especially when jamming with the band at louder volumes I like the...

    High Volume MK IV Tone

I need some help getting better high volume tones on my mark iv. Seems to me that with the tweed/class A/triode and then putting channal volume around 4 and adjusting the master to taste I can get a fantastic low volume tone for lead and rhythm. But when I'm jamming with the band at full power...

    MarkIV = Unforgiving amp!!

I have a friend with a marshall DSL and I brought my mark iv over to his place and set up a nice lead tone I came across on my mark iv and I played it and it sounded smooth and liquid and midrangy...then I let him try, hoping to sit back and enjoy the sound of the amp being played...but no such...
