Your thoughts on the Stiletto Duece II

Rectos turn a guitar into a bass? Interesting. That is some very powerful sound processing technology they have there. Just because the amp doesn't have a ton of mids doesn't mean there is no mids at all. It just has less than the Stiletto. The Stiletto isn't an attempt to move "back into the...

Stiletto Deuce into an Orange 4x12

This amp is great for metal, it managed to replace a Dual Recto and a Mark IV. It won't do the mid scooped thing like the Recto will, but I've always preferred really thick mids, and in that respect the Recto will never touch this thing. The only thing I wish it had was four channels and tube...

disillusioned by mark iv and Mesa in general

You are an idiot postwhore. Shut up. With any luck, Mesa will never be like Diezel, and charge an extra $2k for a bias pot and clinical German tone. Everybody I know who had a Diezel (which admittedly was only two people) sold them and got Engls instead, because they sounded better for less money.

    Best OD for Stiletto Deuce

I'd go with the OD808 as well. Never even heard of any of the ones you listed. But with my Stiletto, I don't boost it at all.. I own a OD808 and it just doesn't improve the tone to my ears, not like it did with my old Rectifier where it went from a pretty crappy amp to an awesome one.

FS: Mark IV "B" version long head

Well, it happened :D When I had my Dual Rec I wanted more articulation and attack, when I had my Mark IV I wanted a bit more sag and life in the sound so the Stiletto fits that bill perfectly.

FS: Mark IV "B" version long head

I will if you are willing to pay for it. The box isn't oversize, but it is heavy, so it could be well over $300 to Finland

FS: Mark IV "B" version long head

I picked up a Stiletto Deuce stage II a few days ago and I finally found something that can improve on the tone of my Mark IV (totally IMO, but hey, I was looking for a long time). So the Mark IV has gotta go! This includes all the original paperwork, from its original build date in 1996. Also...

    The Mark IV "Metallica mod"?

I've given up on the "crunch" channel ever sounding good, especially since what I think makes for a great clean sound (mucho mids) makes for an awful distorted sound. It might just be my guitar... I noticed my SLSMG with an EMG 81 sounds a lot better in drop A then my COW7 with a 81-7 sounds in...

    The Mark IV "Metallica mod"?

St Anger used a lot of different amps.. they used a Diezel VH4 on one track. Most of the amps that you could see in Some Kind of Monster were used at some point on the album, from what I'm told. As far as who is going to be next to define the modern sound... well, it was Fender in the...

16 ohm cabinet into a Mark IV?

I thought it just was bad for the output transformer and that I could get away with it for a little while before any real damage is done? Also, the Mark is "only" 85 watts and the cab is 400 watts RMS. I don't think I will have many problems with blowing anything haha

16 ohm cabinet into a Mark IV?

I only ever play half stacks, plus Matamp cabs are waaaay too expensive to ever run a full stack... so 4 ohms it is.

16 ohm cabinet into a Mark IV?

I am going to pick up a custom Matamp cabinet for my Mark IV (they sound waaay better then Recto cabs and even a halfback cab I passed on awhile back) ...but its 16 ohm and the Mark doesn't have a 16 ohm in! What can I do?? Is my only option changing out the speakers (I didn't specify...

    Mesa half back cabs?

I just found an old school Mesa half back cabinet locally. The top is open and the bottom is closed, and its got a cool old school grill and logo on it. What kind of cab is this? How good are they?

the best tone going right now??!!??

Unearth's tone is sick. Really, really sick. They probably have the best tone going right now, but Mastodon has some cool sounding stuff too.

    Buying a 7 String

I love my Jackson Christian Olde Wolbers 7 string. Single 707 in the bridge, its one of the only 7 strings that is all mahogany with an ebony fretboard, it looks great (unlike the Carvins), it has a GREAT fret job (unlike the LTD M207 and 307), and they are cheap too.

What is it about the Mark IV?

This all sums up what I think of my Mark IV.. this is the amp I should have got instead of a Rectifier. Handles drop A tuning no problem, G standard even sounded pretty good. The 5 band EQ is the greatest feature on an amp, ever. Its got enough gain on tap and a beautiful voicing so that you...

Hardcore Mark IV head w/ aftermarket cab on CL

Now if you cut out the bottom and put in just one rack space for a G Major in there, you'd really have something cool on your hands.

    My Mark IV is here!

that it does! It needs new tubes BAD though, these ones are squealing unbearably loud when I turn it up too much. But in this the little high volume playing I have done, it sounds CRAZY!
