I have heard an awful lot of horrible Mk V tones lover the last couple of months.

Anybody looking for Mark IV's , Here now it's your chance

I have seen more than usual on the bay for for the last couple of weeks but most people are asking a lot as the starting price, up to ($1700) so I think there's a backlog at the moment. I can not tell if this is more to do with the MKV or the general economy. I am on the fence at the moment...

What do you do to keep your pick from slipping?

Dunlop Stubbys 1mm. I went to the my local store and bought a large selection of all different kinds of picks to see if anything felt better than the standard fender picks I was using. Dunlop Stubbys won by a mile. Wont use anything else now.

I think im crazy with GAS

You should try an Axe-Fx Ultra, I just sold 14k worth of amps and don't miss them at all. I have kept 2 MKIVs but I am not really using them. Cured my Amp GAS for a while anyway, now its guitars. I have 3 BFRs and am gassing for the Koa/Ebony one. Something about one day at a time... Then...

    Help with Mark4 and effects.

Maldeve, I would suggest you look carefully at the Digitech GSP 1101 which I prefer over the G-Major. They are similar in many ways, but I was very impressed with the simplicity of user interface, and I have not needed to consult the manual more than a couple of times. Digitech also makes an...

Mark IV A vs. Mark IV B

I have a '93 Mark IVa Short Head with EVM12L Thiele and a 2007 Mark IVb Short Combo also with EVM12L. They are so similar that I would defy anyone to tell the difference in a blind test.

    Help with Mark4 and effects.

I have 2 Mark IVs and I use a G-Major on my A Short Head and a Digitech GSP 1101 on my B Combo, both using 4C method and both are excellent. I paid less for the two units than you are anticipating. Much easier to deal with and way more versatile.

    Haha Finally.

OK, so now all you need is this: http://www.soundmindmusiconline.com/index.php?p=catalog&parent=5&pg=1 and in a couple of years... well that all depends on how hard you work at it. I am working at it, and it does pay of if you keep at it. It's not easy, but the results are worth it in the end.

Is your rig better than you are?

Extremely good thread Chris, and everybody, thank you so much for all your insight. I am as old as dirt, and have been playing now for 48 years and, without reservation, can say music has been, and always will be, the love of my life. Got my first guitar when I was 7 years old and never looked...

Newbie nedding info on Mesa Express

I have a 5:25 10" which sits on a EV Thiele, with a GSP 1101 in 4C method and find it amazingly satisfying to play. I am a big JP fan and can nail some of his tones with my MkIV, but I started to play Damage Control the other day on the 5:25, and although not exactly like the original the 5:25...

    Haha Finally.

Welcome to the family! You made a very good decision, and IMHO the MKIV cannot be beat, and I have tried pretty hard to do that. What kind of music do you play?

    Mark IV's....Early Versus Late Models...

I have a '92 short head and 2 EV Thieles, and also a late '07 combo with a EVM12L, both using stock Mesa tubes, and they are very similar. If I plug them each into a single Thiele, I cannot tell the difference in a blind test. I have actually tried this with a Voodoo Labs Amp Switcher. None of...

Tremonti PRS vs Petrucci Music Man

Funny coincidence, I was just notified of another post here, as I just unpacked my new JP7 which arrived this morning. I have never had a 7 string before, but my BFR is so **** good to play, I could not resist trying a 7. I have been banging away on it through the RoadKing for the last hour or...

Soak resistor required for silent recording on Mk4 ?

Thanks t0aj15, will give that a try later today. Makes a lot of sense when I think about it.

Soak resistor required for silent recording on Mk4 ?

Best way to get a silent recording from a MKIV that I have found, is connect a Digitech GSP 1101 with the 4 cable method, take the mixer outs direct to recorder, with cab simulation on. You are really only using the pre section of the MKIV but I think the results are good...

My new Music Man JP BFR! (pics)

Congratulations man, what a killer looking guitar! I am seriously looking at a BFR 7 string version. Enjoy! How good was the factory setup? Mine was not great but it only took a few minutes to get it perfect.

    Mark IV + DC-3 + A/B/Y = Heaven.

Hey LEVEL4, I am really glad you started this thread as I have been experimenting with the A/B/Y thing for a while now. I have been trying to cure a rather acute case of GAAS, by buying as many amps as I can, (this treatment actually worked for guitars, I am down to 7 from about 25, with no...

    Best Amp I Ever........

Recently got a VHT Sig:X and it's amazing. What's cool about it is how different it is from Mesas. Its getting close to pleasing me as much as the MK IV. You know, you sit down to play, and an hour later you look up with a big s%#t eating grin on your face. I can highly recommend it. Bottom end...

EVERYONE- I Need Your Ears: Mesa Mark IV Clip

Yeah! You nailed it. Well done. I would be very proud if I had managed that. Let us know how the competition goes?

EVERYONE- I Need Your Ears: Mesa Mark IV Clip

Hey, I like it! If it were up to me, I would bring up the bass and rhythm guitar some. At first I thought the lead was too loud in the mix but if you brought the lead down the drums would then be too loud. Drums sound good and solid but the bass is getting lost in the mix and the tone on the...
