Stock combo speaker that comes with the unit. Which is going to take some time to beak in as I can't open up the amp in an apartment complex without expecting the law to show.

Crunch mode works the best for me most of the time, followed by Mark I. I never got comfortable with the edge setting in R2.

I am still exploring the amp. I lived in the 10 watt mode all of July and I am working with the settings in the 45 watt mode now.

I have only ever done what your talking about once. So, unless your doing often I would say no problem. I can't say that it is good for the tubes, if your doing this that often, call mesa and ask the tech rep what they think about it. Then, please post what you found out for the rest of us.

You can't color this amp like you would a fender amp an expect it to react the same.

No, just when turning everything down at bedroom level. I can get 1 and 3 equal, but channel 2 is louder, just like the mark III amps that you had to get the r2 mod done on to equal out things.
