Oh no I hope I did not ruin my Mark V with new tubes

There were quite a few discussions on the wisdom of mixing tube types but if you stick to the same type you'll see on page 62 of the manual, the explanation for the Xs and Ys. The 2 Xs are active for 45Watts while the Y would be off at that power setting. It means that you only need to have 2...

    Mark V Head or Combo?

I know I am repeating same rant but I started with a combo and was very annoyed with tube rattling. We changed all power tubes (2 were rattling) and the rectifier tube (rattler as well) it brought the rattling down but did not get rid of it. Now if you blast at a gig level or even practice level...

    REverb.. Where are you

If it's in tweed mode you'll need to crank it even more to hear any. The other mode should work normaly.

The Mark V owner's manual was just updated

and of course they changed the date at the bottom of the last page THAT must be worth something? :D

The Mark V owner's manual was just updated

Using a bit of technology! File diff stuff I can tell you the only difference from a prior version (sept/2009) is on Page 62 where they illustrate the vacuum tubes used in various power settings. What do I win, what do I win? Cheers

Mutli FX units for the Mark V and channel switching

Well I think its better than the GT-8 and its easy to configure once your familiar with it. I love the flexibility and I purchased it solely on that and the fact that I could control my amp (2 channel [clean + dirty lead]). Since then I bought a 3 channel amp !! The chorus is OK although not...

Mutli FX units for the Mark V and channel switching

From want I've read on the G-Major it looks like it has 2 amp controls which would allow to select any of the three MkV channels.... The Boss Gt-10 can control one.

    Smaller footswitch?

Yes and no. The read selector was on CH 1. The FS-6 is 2 independent footswitchs, so if you have both engaged the MkV will select CH 3. You have to deselect CH 3 for the CH 2 to be used. If you go between CH 2 and CH 3 you could let CH 2 selected at all time. Well you can't eliminate the step...

    Smaller footswitch?

Alright! The FS-6 works great. I removed the Mesa footswitch and selected FRXloop all at the back and tried all combination of power settings. As expected when you mix 10W with 45W or 90W it pops like mad but if you work only in 45W and 90W there is no such problems. All is explained in the...

    Smaller footswitch?

I understand that but figured it was the right place to mention it. Still the popping issue needs to be address. I have an FS-6 at home will test tonight. The FS-6 runs with a 9-volt.

    Smaller footswitch?

Behavior of those jacks is a bit limiting. If you keep the Mesa footswitch and it happens to be on Ch3 than enabling the rear jack for CH 2 will not work. Higher CH selection on the Mesa footswitch has precedence. Also from what I can see the jacks will induce more poping that using the mesa...

What Speakers in My 2x12 Cab???

I can't vote since I was wondering myself the same question. I've owned a 2x12" THD cab with CL80 which I used for about 7 years without really noticing anything wrong. However, I play more cleanish on ch 1 with the MKV taht ever defore and I now realize that the speakers are sort of crapping...

    Warm up crackle?

Well, forgive me for asking but when you say you warm up your amp with the standby on do you mean the switch is up or down (should be down). Normally when the amp is in standby, when you turn it on or walk away for a break nothing comes out. Dead quiet. When you toggle from standby to on to play...

Problems with the Mark V so far?

Beein gigging onced or twice a week since may/2009. No issues whatsoever. Now using EL-34s. There were a few cases of labels rubbing off in the early units. Some rare cases of switchboard connectors problems. As mentionned by others, with a 5 year waranty, there is nothing to worry really.

What 12AX7s should I swap out for fun on my Mark V?

I put a blanket on the counter and put my head upside down. I swapped V1 and a couple of others (can't remember). I also changed to El34s. Apart from the fact that the tubes are sunk in, all went well. I'm always a bit nervous since you don't see the pins at all so I make sure to notice the...

Greetings! New to the board and have a couple of questions

I don't want to highjack this tread but I realise that I'm not 100% I get the biasing and matching thing. Let's say I by matched tubes, are they still need to be biased? I thought Mesa was used colors to match, Groove Tube have number, The tube store have numbers as well, If they have enough...

Mark V Channel Mode External Switching

One head = 9 modes possible = 3 at a time Three head = 9 modes possible = 9 at a time If you could switch between modes somehow on the fly you would get 27 possibilities but 18 of those would be rubish since you all know you would have to reEQ and fine tune everything. I don't think JP...

    4cables method problems

Ah! Still not happy? We're never completely happy and it changes day to day but first you have to make sure the SEND/RETURN is at the correct place in your FX chain. Meaning that is were your guitar signal will get to one of 3 preamps in the MkV. Signal returns get through reverb/delay/ect...

To loop, or not to loop?

With respect to the mod, comp, delay, reverb, etc there is no advantage in the 4 cable method. It's only if you want to use the NOVA Drive part. It should naturally feed the preamp. The NOVA system has to inputs, they are called, drive input and instrument input. If they had replaced the instrument...
