Im trying to learn a solo note for note of a cover tune we are learning. I know how to figure out leads, by ear, but there are a couple of parts in this solo that isn't that clear. I want to use a computer program to slow segments of the solo down AT PITCH. I have Sound forge, but when I slow the segments down, the pitch is lowered, and when I try to alter pitch, the tempo of the segment returns to normal. Anyone have a suggestion using Sound Forge to get around this, or have a freeware option?

Thanks

You want Amazing Slow Downer (http://www.ronimusic.com/). I use this to not only slow down songs but you can change the pitch as well. Speed changes are infinite (just about).

Guitar and Drum Trainer 2 is pretty good. Has an EQ too. I like it. Version 2 is free (it's not a trial version), but it seems to be getting hard to find. Here's a link. Give it a few seconds to give you the download.

+1 for using your ears!!!

Nice tips guys... if you really get stuck the tabs are probably out there somewhere for most things. There is thousands upon thousands available for Guitar Pro 5 for example...

I think most recording software these days has a "time stretching" feature that can slow down the audio with or without changing the pitch. Heck even windows media player can slow down music. It might not be the best quality, but might get you through if you don't want to get too involved.
