I am not trying to spam you guys and I am def not a newcomer to this forum. I have been around for a while and would love some input from you guys about my band's first EP.

It's free and you can share it with anyone: http://aduro.bandcamp.com

Most of you guys have been playing for a while and have a lot of knowledge on songwriting. If you guys can give me some input on the songs, recording, and anything else - I will appreciate that a lot!

Please help a fellow musician:)

Hey there,

I listened to "House of Cards" first. A few things came to my mind:

- the drumbeat that appears throughout the song (verse) is getting on my nerves. Sometimes the hihat seems to be played together with the snare instead of holding the beat on the 1/8s ...

- The "metal" of the drums - especially the hihat - is too loud in my opinion, or maybe too far in the foreground. This tends to sound annoying. I think I've read somewhere that recordings where the metal of the kit is too loud always sound "amateur", and I think it's true. The bassdrum could use a little more snap/presence.

- the vocals feel displaced sometimes in the mix. I don't know how I should explain, but sometimes it's really hard to concentrate and listen to them. Maybe the rest is too loud or too busy, whatever, but it tends to bury the vocals. I probably would habe tried the "less is more"-routine on some parts to help the vocals stand out.

- the second song, "listen", sounds pretty similar to the first. I, for myself, have a tendency to skip records on which every song sounds the same and you don't know which song you are in at the moment. There is a lot of atmospheric stuff going on, but you could use some memorable riffs/hooks IMO.

Anyway, this is some friendly critique. Don't mean to insult in any way :)
