Got the LSS back today and everything seems fine. In Fact, better than fine. I swear it sounds better than before. They replaced every tube with a matched set.

I'm starting to think it had bad tubes from the start. The tech told me that two of the EL84's were bad, but not enough to keep the amp from working or totally shutting it down. He said the bad tubes would act up more at times than others.

Anyway, I'm Back in tone heaven. I just hope it stays this way.

Thanks, Res

New to the forum.

I've had my LSS 1 x 12 for two days. The store left the blue casing on the far left left tube and turned the amp on...I noticed it when I brought the amp home. I called, they said to scrape off the blue plastic. I did.

Turn the amp on for the first time. Stinks like burning wire -- seeping smoke.

Clean the tube again and now believe it is the power transformer. I am taking it back to the store to beg them to exchange the amp.

Do the power transformers go quiickly on these?

What makes yout hink the PT is bad? Looking at the back of the amp, the far left tube is the rectifier tube. If that tube went out, you can still use the amp in the 30 watt Mode. If the amp works in this configuration, make the store where you bought it give you a new tube (or call Mesa, they will sned you a new one-if the amp is under warranty).
