Paralell FX loop in Rectoverb Series 2.

Right now I am in-between bands... so at this point I really only get to play my Recto in my bedroom or living room at those levels... I've heard of people using a patch cord in the FX loop to get more saturation at a lower volume level? Would someone be willing to educate me on the finer points of this process?? Thanks in advance!!
