The amp (1x12 combo w/ EV 200Watt speaker) is on its way folks! I shall be getting it by the end of this week but I can't wait so I have been doing research on it for the past 3 weeks!!! (ever since I started bidding on it :D)

Just had a few questions guys, I'd really appreciate your help:

1) Slave out. I plan to do double tracking with 1 mic and 1 impulse. Question is, is the Slave out post FX loop? and also post Power section? Or is it just post preamp?

2) Channels/Feature switching. I have a musicomlab efxiii controller which has 2 TRS jacks for footswitching. Question is, would I use an insert cable with TRS into the switcher and the first mono out in the front lead/rhy in and the second mono out in the back rhy1/rhy2 in? Also, would using 1 TRS - TRS cable from the second TRS jack in musicomlab to EQ/Reverb (read that it has TRS in) work for this Eq/Rev switch?

3) Can I expect an awesome tone? Wait a minute thats not even a question :p

Cheers mates

What you describe as using a TRS for channel switching sounds like it would work for the REV/EQ switching. On the amp, a TRS connection splits to two mono latching foot switches for the REV/EQ.
Each channel switch involves a single TS mono connection. It's actually recommended to use unshielded speaker cable for this app.
You can use Lead and R2 simultaneously for a tad more mid-range drive.
I'm a MIDIdiot, so I'm unsure how to configure the EFXIII to your purposes, but it seems do-able.
I've done recording into ProTools from the Direct Out with what I consider satisfactory results. Mesa says it has speaker compensation, unlike a true Slave Out. I'm sure others might prefer more speaker and microphone coloring and will tell you the Direct Out sounds horrible, so YMMV.
Awesome toan awaits. Welcome to the club. :D

Cool, thanks for the info dude! Appreciate it!
So for Lead/R2 switch I could just use a mono speaker cable from EFXIII to the front footswitch in?

Also, I have seen what you said so many times on this board (I have read about a 100 posts here lol), [about using R2 as a boost for Lead instead of a TubeScreamer], how does that work? Is it the Treble shift pulled out?

Good to know you got nice sounding results from the Slave out, was that post the FX loop? Did the slave capture w/e effects you had in the loop?

#1) Yes.

#2) Using the front panel (R1 to Lead) foot switch, switch to Lead. From the foot switch connected to the rear chassis underside, switch to R2.
Lead and R2 are both ON now.
All the pull-knob functions are available.
The difference is small, but it's there.
You will get more boost with a TS-9 (Tube Screamer).

#3) The Direct Out is post loop. By the way, it should be noted that the Mark III reverb is PRE loop. That's right, the signal goes through the reverb BEFORE it hits the effects loop. Strange, but true.

Remember, DIRECT OUT is *NOT* the same as SLAVE OUT, and the terms should not be used interchangeably.

Slave Out is designed to run a signal (post-effects, post-power amp) to external power amps. The signal is tapped at the speaker jack, so no speaker coloration.
Direct Out (also post-effects) usually has some kind of speaker emulation or EQ for connection to mixer and/or recording inputs.

The slave out on your amp is post power section. The power section is tapped and the signal is reduced to a line level signal. The idea is to get the coloration of the power tubes versus the preamp tapped line out signal which has no power tube influence.

Remember, if you use the slave out, you still have to connect your amp to speakers or a load box.

Interesting. Congratulations on the purchase. You will do yourself a favor to search the board for thr R2 Mod this amp has. You may have more control using R2 as well as variance in expression.

Hehe cool, thanks guys. But I couldn't find any search results haha, maybe i'm just a sh!tty searcher :p. Could you tell me how to look for it? :)

Hey folks so I had the weekend to experiment with the amp and here's stuff I recorded (some of the tones I was able to capture):
