Ok I traded the Line 6 Variax acoustic yesterday in at the Orlando SAM ASH to this NEW Ibanez RGR320EXRBX reverse headstock,

http://www.wikizic.org/Ibanez-RGR320/gallery-1.htm

all flat black, EDGE III Tremelo, It has the "Designed by EMG" pups in it, it sounds great so far, they are passive not active pups, (BTW its tuned to DROP "B" , just like Slipknot) I was gonna get the Ibanze Slipknot AXE the MTM2 but I wanted a tremelo guitar not the fixed bridge, its almost the same thing
But back to my question Like I said its sounds good thru my MB Recto Pre and 2:100 going thru my 1960A cab with (4) GT12T 75watters in stereo I was wondering how much better or would it be a big huge difference if I got the EMG active 81 & 85 set, I have huge strings on it now since its dropped so low its got 10-52's now, I might later tune to DROP "C" instead, will the Active set be that much better, has anyone compared the 2 sets side by side the "Designed by EMG" set that are passive with the actual EMG 81-85 set :?: :?:

well I got th eEMG set and here is my view on them in this guitar

THE SOUND LIKE A$$, yeah like crap, the Ibanez " Designer by EMG" I took out sounded better, the guitar is a Ibanez RGR320 Basswood, does that make a difference as far as the wood, the string are 10-52's what is up I have tried 2 batteries, same crap sound, my Dimarzios in my Strat sounds way better also, could I have wired them in a way to make them sound bad? maybe not grounded right, they do not buzz at all or hum, that is a good sign, I adjusted them way high like it said "they cannot get too distorted" but they hardly sustain or have much distortion at all, the ones I took out sounded better, Man I wasted my time today installing these and trading a bunch of older pedals for them, HELP SOMEONE also now I cannot get this guitar tuned in drop B again without the tremolo raising way up, man this has been a bad guitar day "BGD" I am disappointed about them sounding bad, now it will not tune so that the bar is not way up in the air, someone help a fellow forum user out, I kinda knew they might sound weak as I had a EMG 81 in my older RG570 adn it sounded real thin, tiny sounding, of course I only had 8 gauge string on it, but still what could be wrong here??????

sounds like it was just hooked up wrong IMO. no prob. just take it to a shop, most guys will help you right out, should be around 20 bucks at the most. in all respects if you have an ibanez rg with EMGs tuned to B going through a recto into a 4x12 you should be able to feel it in your balls. don't give up on the EMGs just yet... they will blow the ibanez pups out of the water, and you'll have tone so brutal that you'll wanna kick puppies

oh, also block the trem when you are putting the new strings on, especialy if you are doing them all at once and not one at a time. may i also suggest you get some 12-56 on that puppy. i've got 56 for the low B on my 7 string and i'm probably gonna go bigger (had it up to a .68 at one time but thats a little overkill for me now  )

TKS guys I was hoping to get some good reponse without giving up today on them, I also was thinking with my setup I

should be able to feel it in my balls

any possibly my furtherest neighbor could fell it in his also :D

so today I am taking to my local shop to have my friend there check it and re-set it up again as far as the tremolo goes I adjusted (tightened) the screws in the back and still it sits way too high, it was ok before I changed pups

ALL HOPE IS NOT LOST YET

What is important, as well, is to get the guitar SET UP FOR THE STRINGS AND TUNING you'll be using. ESPECIALLY with a trem!

That'll also influence the tone you get out of the EMGs...

according to the manual, EMGs are very sensitive to the distance between Pups and the strings. I've lifted my 85 as hight as possible, sounds killer:)

You need a pro to set that up. The EMGs should sound way better.
Also the MTM2 has a Wizard 2 neck and a Mahogany body, so the two guitars aren't that similar. I have a basswood guitar and it's fine for metal, it just doesn't have the same attack as Mahogany.

OK so my eyes are getting bad, at my old age of 42, I had one hot and one ground from the swith flip/flopped the tech took care of it in like 1 minute so now ALL is fine, gotta try it at home this evening thru my setup to see NOW just how GOOD these things are

TKS
everyone :D

Hahahah!

I was gonna say....Design by > EMG?

thank goodness it was a wiring issue :)
