Opps..!

Guess I need to contact Mesa and get a new one and install it. Don't think using epoxy on the shaft will hold.

Don't trust any Tech here in ANC to do it.

I did that tube mod to accept diff tubes sos I think I can do it. I hope.

Any experience with it?

Ideas?

Rick :)

I had exactly the same issue (broken shaft) with exactly the same pot (Treble push-pull) on my Mark III - epoxy worked well for me, no issues so far with the repaired pot.

One tip: don't try to use epoxy glue on the pot in place - take out the chassis from the shell, remove the pot, dismantle it so you could have the access to the both parts of the broken shaft, and then glue them together. Leave for 72 hours and then put everything back in place (insert the pot, solder all the connections).

If you try to use epoxy without removing the pot, there is a chance that the excessive drops of epoxy could glue the shaft to the outside metal parts - and the pot won't rotate anymore :D

Hope this helps.

Thanks BR...frankly I didn't think that solution wld last.

Mesa had two available. One they built exactly like the orig($15) and a later one for abt $5.The $5 will work just fine but doesn't match the orig. I ordered the $15 one to match.

Reckon I'll repair the old one and place in back of amp and install the new one.

Oh..shipping was as much as the dang knob/switch was. Go figure... :(

Then you will have a spare knob as a bonus :) It's good they still have the replacement parts for old amps, somewhere on this board I read that they only offer now a different push-pull pot (the one that is used as a main master volume in Mark IV), so it must have been that version for $5...

J,

Mesa is pretty helpful over the years.

Are you in Russia? If so send me some vodka ha!.

Oh...for grins and giggles here's some of the toys I'm messing with since it's -10deg F here...Brrr.. :(

Yeah, I'm in St. Petersburg... and I live in 10 minutes drive from the Winged =C= factory, here it is :D

That's the reason why I repaired my knob rather than ordered a new one - shipping something across the ocean could last weeks and costs many $$$s.

Nice Marshalls :) BTW we have roughly the same temperature here now (about -15F at nights, day is warmer - about 0-5F)
