Pulled the trigger yesterday unexpectedly after making a call to the somewhat local Mesa dealer (4 hours away). They just got one in, could not hold it until my other amps sell, and another one would not be in until February. I gave him my Credit Card info and shipping address and it is arriving today via UPS!

I'll be running it through my Mesa 3/4 back 1x12 cab. This cab sounds awesome with every amp i've heard run through it.

Now I just gotta sell some gear to pay this sucker off. PM me if you see any amps or effects in my signature you are interested in! And, no, the guitars are not for sale... :)

Congratulations on the Mark V MusicMan. Your JP6 will love this amp to death :)

Thanks!

When I tried my friend's Mark V out at my house earlier this week (to make sure this is the amp I want) we both agreed it sounded just like Petrucci when I was using the JP6 - obviously! I've got the new JP pickups installed so the combination nails his new BC&SL tones. Now if I could just play like him I'd be all set!

The PRS and Peavey sound great through this amp as well, just different. My friend had his settings all dialed in so I didn't have a chance to tweak it to my liking. It should be fun to explore all the different tones in this amp with each guitar...

Nice! I haven't yet used the new JP6 pickups since I'm partial to the old Steve's special and the Air Norton based pups in the JP6. Be sure to experiment a lot with Channel 2! The Mark I mode has a lot of gain to tap, and yesterday I had a "A-Ha" moment. I put a clean boost in front of channel 2 with the gain around 2:00, 45 watt mode with tube rectification, and man oh man with the correct EQ settings, you can have a snarling approximation of the recto tone as well :) The Mark I is my fave mode followed by the IIc+ and Extreme, and oh the cleans are mind blowing too. I just love this amp!!

cheers,
Supreeth

There is a closer Mesa dealer, Music City in Asheville, NC. About hour away. They usally have a good selection.

I'll have to check them out next time I'm in Asheville!

I just got done playing for a good hour. I hooked up the PRS and tweaked the channels/modes a bit. Oddly enough I ended up on Fat Clean, Crunch, and Mark IV - all in 10 watts, no EQ, and variac power. This is by far the best sounding amp I've ever owned or heard. I'm constantly blown away by my new found Tone. Each of my guitars sound different and equally awesome. This amp is quality, quality, quality!

I hooked up the GT-8 for the heck of it to see how it would sound. It sucks a little tone, but it still sounds good. It makes it sound less hi-fi I guess is the best way to describe it. I definitely want to get a passive volume pedal and a Nova Delay and get rid of the GT-8. I don't use anything but delay and just mess around with the other effects for giggles.

I'm not really digging my Morley wah sound with this amp. It sounds too harsh or something. This amp is very sensitive to guitars, pedals, and cables I guess.

I'm definitely in love though! Sure it was expensive, but man is it worth it. Best tone I've ever heard/had!

Some people don;t like Variac..but I do...I think this amp sounds better at 10w Variac...and dude...at least try the Eventide before you get a nova delay :-D

10W/Variac sounds awesome IMO! I was surprised I preferred to keep the GEQ off... at least at low volume jamming with the RC-2 looper.

My main gripe about the Eventide is that it costs TWICE as much as the Nova Delay. I love me some delay, but can it possibly be TWICE as good?!

Well if you think about it the Eventide does about twice as much as the Nova, doesn't it?

If I were you I'd just buy a DD20 and rock it. I have had mine for years.

See, I'm not really sure. I haven't done any research yet. I've been spending any free time I get playing with my new toy!

My main goal is for the pedal to be as TRANSPARENT as possible. I notice my DD-3 sucks a bit of tone. I also like having presets that I can select with my feet easily.

I think I'll most likely replace my Morley wah, add a volume pedal, and a nice delay pedal and then i'll be good to go. I've got my RC-2 looper up for sale, but I don't mind keeping it...

You are absolutely killing me! Now, where did I put my GAS pills? :(

There's only one cure for GAS.... and it's the hardest pill to swallow!
Maybe for my wife, I can easily justify $2k for a new amp. Congratulations by the way. Sounds like you've found your holy grail.

Hey musicman and congrats you *******

I'm using a dd 20 with my mk4 an no tone suckage. I was also using boss gt 8 and there was always some tone sucking there. Boss did good on the dd 20. Sounds better to my ears than my other two delay pedals which are the dl4 by line6 and ehx memoryman with hazarai.

At least try it out, it's very underrated in my books.

And now I'm itching all over for a V.
