Using a Mkiii with a seperate EQ pedal
and Paul Reed SmithCustom 24
Enjoy! (or not)

good tone and nice playing! perhaps the guitar volume level is a liitle little bit low in the mix imo. thanks for sharing

I use a Boss Ge7 thru the effects loop. I pull the 1.6k range and the 6.6K right out of the mix, then use the 3.4k to udjust the highs. Pulling the 1.6k right out gets rid of the fuzz. I will then have the 3.4k at about 70%. The Eq on the amp is like a reverse V, with the mids highest. The Idea is to try and get that nice midrange "Dumble" tone without it being mushy. Its quite a process and is still not right. My next amp will definately be a "Fuchs" TDS, as they come closest to the tone I'm after.

Hey Shaggy,

Sorry for being so late to read this. But if you happen to pick it up, you website where the mp3 is supposed to be is no longer valid.
Can you please pot a curent valid adress for that mp3. I am a huge Santana fan.
Thanks for sharing

****!!! Shaggy, that was very very impressive!
Simply beautiful!
Now for the questions:
I am like you, looking for that dumble sound, with very sweet creamy distortion without the fuzz... I have a Mark I reissue and I am thinking of buying an equalizer. Wopuld that help clean up the fuzz? I currently have the smooth and slim and it helps quite a bit.
*What did you use to record this piece?
*what did you use for backing tracks?
*Was tis just a jam or you actually know all these notes by heart?

Again, SUPERB EFFORT!!!

Driss (a HUGE Santana fan) (I have a PRS Santana III)

Refering to the questions from Driss. Yes an Eq pedal thru the effects loop can help you tweak the tone considerably. Pulling out the 1.6k freq can really clean up the fuzz although it can make the tone a bit nazelly, so you need plenty of mids on the amp.
The backing tracks were done in Cubase SX3 using Sampletank 2 for the sounds. And yes , it was just a jam, done in one take, just for a bit of Fun.

Cheers
