I am looking at a couple of PRS...the Johnny Hiland model and the Custom 22, as well as potentially anything else currently being produced.

I've never owned PRS so I am flying blind as to what they work best with for classic rock, country/country rock, and blues.

Is anyone using these guitars with the LSS. How is the sound?

never played one through a lonestar but i recently played a whole bunch and for the tones you describe i'd say the mccarty or even the new mira. the mira has a very vintage type sound

Your Lonestar will sound awesome with a CU22 running thru it....but as an owner of just about every PRS model out there, may I suggest you try a Swamp Ash Special.......it's one of the most versatile guitars for tone that PRS makes......plus it's not one of the real expensive ones! With a SAS and your LSS....you should be able to achieve what ever tone you are looking for!!!!

I have the Lonestar Classic, and I have both the McCarty and a CE24, and the CE will give you the best results as far as a variety of sounds. Never tried the Swamp Ash though. Happy Hunting!

well, i played an sc245 through a lonestar special at a GC one afternoon ... i now own an sc245 .... and i intend to own a LSS 1x12" combo before years end

in the store, with only limited twiddlin time, i got excellent warm but well-defined cleans out of it ... really happenin gritty to crunchy rhythm for blues or classic rock, and very sweet sustain for single note soloing ... all in 5watt mode

without a pedal assist (a la duncan twin tube mayhem, etc) , i couldnt see it doing metal

but other than that, i highly recommend .. btw, the LSS loved my EJ strat too :D

yes i do i have a johnny hiland prs and i use a lss special 2x12 combo i also have 2007 lsc with the 10 watt class A 2x12 for me i play country rock, classic rock, blues the lss just smoke,s anything else out there with this guitar even prs commented to me on this amp with there guitar the lsc also sounds good but imho i think the lss really make the pick ups shine for country rock

I have a LSS 1 X 12 and a PRS SC (the ole lawsuit model). Sound FANTASTIC clean, and then I use a pedal to goose, as I have Channel 2 set up for the strat on the "Lonestar state" setting

don't own a PRS but have two humbucker types...an Artist '78...which I'm told was a model for them back in the day, handmaking them quality wise. and one with some SD's

anyway and I have an LSS

I will say this....when I first got my LSS it was all humbuckers and it was easy...sounds great.
I have had a time fighting to get my Strat sounds down with the amp....I'm getting there and it's great...it was just so easy with humbuckers.

so I guess I'm saying...yeah...I think a PRS and an LSS will sound great together, (from my limited observation).

I use several different guitars with my LSS and all sound great! I have a PRS McCarty with soapbars and it sounds fantastic thru my LSS. Channel 1 is clean, channel 2 is setup for slight breakup and I use pedals in front of the amp for additional OD saturation for both channels.

Having said that, it's really up to your ears and the tones you're going for. I would suggest, if you can, trying several guitars with a LSS to see what works for you. Also, you'll have to do some dialing in on the LSS to hit that sweet spot.

Enjoy the adventure!! :)

I mainly use 3 guitars through my LSS; Gibson Les Paul Standard (Burstbucker Pros), Fender Stratocaster (CS '54 Pups) and a Fender 52 Re-Issue Telecaster. Each guitar has its own characteristics which really shine through the amp. Takes a little bit of tweaking to get it just right when switching between them, but that's to be expected!

Don't forget to check the new Korina (can't remember the exact model name) that just came out. Played one at the store last month and I just couldn't put it down.

My main gigging rig now is a '95 PRS Custom 24 through my Lonestar Special Head. It is an amazing combination. It can really cover everything I need it to. The humbuckers really drive channel 2 hard and often with just the Solo Boost function for solos, I am good to go. No complaints with my Strat or Tele through the LSS either though....

Not a PRS, but similar quality of guitar.

Try a Parker Fly Mojo with your LSS - about as versatile as you can get, all the way from hifi country twang through heavy rock to jazz.

Of course not as traditional looking as the PRS, but the PRS Hiland I tried was lovely. If I didn't have the Parker, that would be my next bet. A great guitar and nice match with the LSS.
