:?: Can any of you recommend speakers that come to life at volumes suitable for small to medium sized clubs? I'm not that crazy about the Black Shadow CM90 - it's ok but it's grainy breakup is not my cup of tea. 150 watt speakers are overkill and stiff at even club volumes. I'm mostly a classic rock specialist, not a metalhead. Though I use the lead channel periodically for Santana or Neal Schon type stuff, I spend more time using the "Fender channel" with volume at 8 or 9, master at 2.5 and the "Marshall channel" with various settings.

In the meantime, I play at lower volumes with a ceramic Tone Tubby hempcone which is a 40 watt speaker. If I need to put the wood to it, I add a 1x12 with a Tone Tubby AlNiCo. I love the tone tubby speakers, but each is rated at 40 watts. I mostly interested in having another speaker handy for the combo alone in case I want to carry only one amp and will be able to crank it up a bit without worry.

Thanks

Check with Ted Weber,if you explain to him what you are looking for he will give you very good recomendations. He makes some great speakers IMHO,and any time I asked for advice his suggestion has nailed what I needed. www.tedweber.com- you can get an email link as well as look over what he offers, but if you have special needs he can tell you what changes he can offer to the speakers he has listed. Its a great experience dealing with this guy.

I got Ted's feedback per your recommendation and a 1265 should fit my needs. I just ordered one.
