can someone please help, setting up of guitar rig, i have always used old marshallls, but trying something new

boss gt8, mesa triaxis pre amp , mesa strategy 500 power amp, gibson les paul

please i need help, which way of connecting it together for best results, any comments would be appreciated

cheers neil

If you use the GT8 as FX i will put the GT8 within the serie FX loop of the triaxis

Guitar -> IN Triaxis
Triaxis FX Send -> IN GT8
OUT GT8 -> Return Triaxis
Triaxis OUT - > Strategy IN

hi reuveu, thanx 4 the reply, im new to this rig, but slowly learning,
i tried that way u said, it all works fine, but the wah in use after the pre amp seems to sound weird, not all there,

is the triaxis somehow programmable to where the loop sits ?? is that a weird question, lol

mmm interesting thought , i need to read manual,

any replys , comments are welcomed

thank you neil

no you cant change the place of the FX loop
the fx loop is placed after the preamp section but before the presence and the dynamic voice

you have 3 possible position for your GT8
before the triaxis, in the FX loop of the triaxis or between the triaxis and the Poweramp
if in the FX loop, just the wha sounds weird i advise you to buy another wha like a cry baby furthermore in my opinion it will sounds better than the wha of the GT8

I think that if you want to get the best sound of the triaxis you need to put the GT8 in the FX loop

you need to set up the GT8, not the triaxis:

check out this post/thread on HC

http://acapella.harmony-central.com/showpost.php?p=13843359&postcount=5

Short version:
Guitar into GT8
GT8 Effects send to Amp Input
Amp send to GT8 effects return
GT8 Output to amp effects return

Place wah before effects loop

hi kiff thats a different set up , i will try that one 2,

hey reuveu, if i used a seperate wah, is it best 2 plug guitar into wah then into triaxis?

have u ever tried that way, kiff talked about??

Short version:
Guitar into GT8
GT8 Effects send to Amp Input
Amp send to GT8 effects return
GT8 Output to amp effects return

Place wah before effects loop

thank you 4 replying guys much appreciated

I don't have a GT8
but i have a triaxis for years now so
that's why i advised you to put the multi effecs in the loop ...

you know you need to do is to do Tests.
Test all set up and check which one is better for you hears

the sound is very subjective, i can love something you will not
with my triaxis i put the wha before the triaxis and had a Gmajor and now a Gforce i put in the FX loop
or after the triaxis it depends ...

so do tests and you will see what you prefer ...

you need also to know that the triaxis is a very versatile machine
but it takes time to set up sounds if you read the manual parameters interact between each other
you may always change your sounds (add 0.5 in the treble, reduce 0.5 in the bass)

so you will not get THE sound in 2 minutes ...

Page 50 of the GT-8 manual explains the GT-8 external loop a bit.
Page 52 explains how to move effects around in the chain (Wah first, before the pre-amp, etc).
Wahs generally do sound best at the very beginning of your effects chain, but it does no harm to experiment. Hendrix didn't have no stinking effects loops, and he seemed to do OK.
I may be wrong, but I'm almost certain you indeed can put the loop anywhere you wish on the GT-8. You should be able to get the Wah in front of the amp, etc.

Learn about the four cable method, as mentioned above, here:

I would suggest to sell the GT8 and buy a TC Electronic G-Major effects processor and a Wah pedal. You can't go wrong with that. Best effects for a convenient price. Far better than any Boss GT. And it's a clean setup - short cables, just a rack case, if any.
