I currently own a stiletto ace 212 combo and its been a good amp, but after trying the Eleactra Dyne I think I've found my soulmate!

I will purchase the ED as soon as I can sell my Stiletto but I'm not sure if I should go for a 112 or 212 combo? Money is a factor in my decision so I want to make the correct choise. Any advice on which to go with?

I dont think there is much difference as far as tone, volume, punch, etc between a 1x12 and 2x12 all other things being equal. Others may disagree.

I have not played a 2x12, but I can assure you the 1x12 combo will not disappoint. It sounds huge. Heavy as hell, but so is your stiletto combo.

I can relate. Though I never owned a Stiletto I was looking at one hard and was condidering it for my next amp. Especially loved the crunch mode. But when I tried the ED, it just floored me. I knew 60 seconds after I plugged in that this would be my next amp.

I know what you mean. I tried it after spotting it in the corner of the music shop almost hidden away. I was trying everything they had that day includind marshall, other Mesa amps and some other ones. I plugged in and within 10 seconds I had a big smile on my face and saif this is the one! Since then I've been trying to sell my Stiletto locally but at that price range there are not too many takers. I'll have to be patient but I'm sure it will sell eventually.

Now I'm just searching youtube for as many clips I can find on the Ed to make sure that this is really the one.

I think it is!

Had a chance to A/B the 1x12 combo the other day against a Marshall VM combo…..I got to say after spending some time playing around I came away with a new respect for the Marshall Vintage Modern, it a real nice amp…..BUT….. the bottom line is it got eaten alive by the Dyne IMO….the the ED sounded like a wall of amplifiers compared to the VM….. when you guys say its big sounding….your on target 100%.......the dyne is in a class of its own…

If the weight isn't an issue I would go with a 2x12. I personally like to mix speaker combinations and have a C90 and V30 in my combo. I havent A/B'ed it with a 1x12, but this combo sounds great to me. When I record, I mic one side then overdub the other. I'm very happy with the results. Good luck.

I haven't played the 2x12 but as others have stated the 1x12 is absolutely massive sounding! It's easily the biggest sounding 1x12 I've heard... the certainly got something right with it.

I would imagine the 2x12 would have less bottom and punchier mids... just a guess though.

Having owned both a 112 and 212 combo, I can assure you that the 212 has THUNDERING lowend- so much so that I don't typically play my RG 3120 at home through the amp with the family home. Even at very low volume, the low freqs shake stuff....really....

I'm curious now. Would you say the 212 has MORE low end than the 112? Same speakers? Size wise, how much larger is the 212 cabinet over the 112? Do you prefer the 212?

I've just been so impressed with that 112... it's hard to imagine things getting better!

Same size shell, but the 212 has 2 V30s instead of 1 MC90- I don't know if I prefer the 212- BOTH sound real, real good- but the V30s break just a little earlier, and I honestly haven't liked my tone more (27+ years) than I do now withthis amp. I honestly feel like "I finally got it"- its just that good for me. All modes are exactly what I want to hear- no other amp got that right.
I can't say if one has MORE low end- but this one is off the hook with bottom. 212 will push more air.....
ED is the best Mesa available IMHO.

The Electra Dyne 1x12 has been the first cab I've liked the C90 in... I'm otherwise always a V30 fan. We have a Lone Star 2x12 here with one C90 and one V30 and that is a really nice sounding amp.

ED is the best Mesa available IMHO.
That's tough to argue. For me, it's a toss up between the Lone Star and Electra Dyne. I have a Mark I reissue that is my "favorite" but I'm really torn between the LS and ED. Both amps remind me of the Mark I... the lone star more-so of course... but each one has it's own subtleties. It's hard to pick a favorite. It's like having to pick your favorite Beatles album.

I recommend the 112 - it's VERY heavy, and I thought everyone was B.S.'ing about this until I got mine, but the 1x12 sounds huge, I feel like I'm standing in front of my old half-stack 4x12 setup, honestly. I really can't see needing more than that.

I own the 2 X 12 version, but I haven't had the opportunity to play it side by side with the 1 X 12. I agree with the others that the 1 X 12 is huge sounding, (that is what I demoed) but the 2 X 12 does give you the flexibility of using different speakers. Mine by the way, came with 2 C90 Black Shadow speakers. They are each 16 ohm speakers, so it is still an 8 ohm load. Because of this, I really don't think it is necessarilly louder.

I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Did you custom order your 212 w/ C90's? My 212 has 2 V30's, but I have a C90 that I am going to eventually throw in.....

I didn't special order it. I guess they are now putting the C90's in them now. I ordered mine on October 24th and I didn't receive it until February 22nd.
