Hello there,

Small question about the simul 395 Switchtrack:

Can you use EL34 tubes in the Class A sockets in stead of the 6L6's??

The 295 can use the el34's, is stated in the manual.
Same goes for all Simul Class poweramps (Mark IV, Mark III, ... )
Is the 395 based on the same circuit?

There's nothing much in the manual...
And you can't find aschematic nowhere.

Just to try something different.

Cheers,
M.

??

I would expect you can use about every el34 tube in the class A sockets?
There is no need for bias setting...

Cheers,
M.

You could but if they don't operate in the proper range they could either run too clean or too dirty.

GT has certain tubes that run in the Mesa range. Mesa also has the colors on their tubes. Mesa Red coded power tubes get dirtier faster than the other colors.

Some people like to dial in their power sections which is why some mod their Mesa power amps to be adjustable bias. I personally have mine stock but I like to point out the options to provide information to others. That's what this board is about right?
