@ killst8: I have retubed with Eurotube JJs on two amps: a Mesa Maverick 2x12 combo and a Road King Series II v2. Both sound great after the retubes. Many consider the JJ EL84 (the tubes that yellowjackets use) to be the best available production tube for EL84 right now. The maverick sounds stellar. I also opted for the KT77, but also got E34Ls as an option to the EL34 slot. I actually prefer the E34L - they still sound brittish-crunch, but lend a chime to the road king that was missing before. Plus I feel they work better for the cleans.

So here is my experience using yellowjackets in my Road King II v2:
Installed first in the 6L6 slots closest to the rectifier tubes, so left to right tube setup was: KT77 - KT77 - 6L6 - 6L6 - YJEL84 - YJEL84 - GZ34 - GZ34. Left settings on spongy, and tube rectifier for all channels. Set all channels to the 2x6L6 option. Turned amp on standby, let warm for 5 minutes then lifted standby. Played channel 1 - sounded great. Switched to channel 2 - got no sound and a very LOUD rapid clicking from amp (maybe the output transformer?). Switched to channel 3 - sounded dull and quiet, buzzy. Switched to channel 4 - no sound & loud clicking.
Turned amp off, and took a different approach. Installed the YJs in the EL34 spots. Set all channels to EL34 and Solid State rectifier. Turned amp back on and this time got no sound and clicking from channels 3 & 4 but 1 and 2 sounded OK. Switched channels 3 & 4 to 6L6 and still got clicking.

What gives?

Took yellow jackets out and put the EL34s back in, and amp works fine.

Anyone got advice?
