Hello everyone, hope this post finds you well

I got my Mark V! Yay! I have a couple of noob questions - hope someone can help please.

Question 1: When I flick from Standby to On, the tubes start to glow with a blue incandesence inside - is this normal? When in Standby, they are just orange.

Question 2: Is it safe to switch between power settings (10, 45, 90) without first going into Standby? I get a loudish pop when I do this and wonder if I am damaging my amp?

Question 3: Related to the above then, are there any things where I should switch to Standby first before changing the settings?

Thanks in advance

1. blue is ok. it's kind of nice :) some tubes may not have anything other than the orange glow, though.
***red is VERY bad--turn off immediately and replace those tubes (red-plating).

2. loudish pop is expected and explained in the manual. you're basically changing the wiring configurations of the power tubes which will involve application or removal of current/voltage on their terminals.

3. you can put it on standby, but in changing the power settings, i think it's ok.
