Boogie MK1

Hi all

I'm new to this messageboard so I thought I'd let you know about my Boogie.
I have an original Mk1 combo in cream tolex with on-board graphic and 15" JBL speaker exactly as Mick Jones had for the majority of his time with the Clash and ALL of his time with Big Audio Dynamite.
I absolutely love it and would be interested to hear any comments from people with far more knowledge of these things than myself.

I'm told there were only about 300 ever made.

Holy cow, that's cool. Can you confirm that he played the amp on the albums? It would be great to add some legit punk rock to my Mark 1 playlist. I started a MK1 ampography thread here:

Feel free to add to it. I'm a happy MK1 reissue (M1RI) tweaker. There are a lot of tones in that single signal path...

I cannot confirm that the Boogie was used on the albums. I can only state for definite that Jonesy played with the Mk1 15" live - that is 100% as I saw The Clash 3 x times and BAD maybe 10 x times (I lost count !), I used to stand at the front like a saddo looking at his gear !

Somebody mentioned the Mk 11a - I'm pretty certain this was also part of MJ's backline.
At his peak with Clash & BAD he used 2 x Boogies, one black, one cream, both 15" OB graphic versions combined with a Roland RE-301 chorus echo. He also used 2 x Boogie 15" cream combos WITHOUT the OB graphic at his last ever Clash concert (US Festival), so it gets a bit confusing.

If I ever learn how to link YouTube websites I can back this up with Clash/BAD vids !

Re: GTS - hi my friend, I think his choice of a Boogie amp probably reflects his non-parochial outlook generally, this was the guy that introduced reggae into the punk scene after all, and the rest !!!

Also there's a good vid of my band doing "The Bottom Line" using the aforementioned Boogie if anyone's interested !

Are you in the US or UK ? If you are in the UK, I would slip that behemoth out of the cabinet to see if MJ's name is
anywhere in the chassis. The 15" was an option, like most thinks on early Boogies and the sometime wrote the name of the owner on
one of the lips on the chassis. It may be worth a quick peek.

wow - what a thought - I'll do that !
the bloke I bought it off told me that it used to belong to Eddie and The Hot Rods and it was used on the recording of their album "Fish and Chips", not the most well known album in the world granted but certainly some provenance there.
