20/20 Users, What cabs and speakers you running?

Wow, I didn't know you could do that. What a great idea. I'm just beginning to learn about the differences in tubes. Timbre Wolf has a great thread about retubing the Triaxis. You guys are true pioneers! The tone quest continues! 8)

20/20 Users, What cabs and speakers you running?

Yup. I got the idea from the Road King 2X12 cab that I have, which comes with a V30 and a C90. Nice combination with a good variety of sounds. So I've tried several different speaker combinations in another Mesa 2X12 cab I have. The V30/Greenback seems to be the best for me so far. 8)

Standard recto 4x12 straight cab question

The "straight" cabs are considered the "B" cab and designed to go under the "A" or slant cab in a full stack. The top 2 speakers are still angled like the slant cab so the guitarist can hear it better. 8)

C90's vs. V30's - which speakers are for me?

The C90s have more headroom and, therefore, more clarity than V30s, but mixing 2 of each in the same cab makes some killer sounds. 8)

4x12 Mesa Boogie half-back cab question

I'm guessing those are EV's, judging from the wattage. Black Shadow C-90s and MC-90s are Celestions and are rated at 90 watts. 8)

20/20 Users, What cabs and speakers you running?

I'm running a V30 and Greenback, both 8 ohms, in a 2X12 and I'm loving that! I've been curious to see if anyone has tried the Celestion G12H 70th Anniversary 30 watt speakers with the TA/20/20 rig. 8)

    Retubing a TriAxis a 2:90

I was actually satisfied with the stock Mesa tubes in my TriAxis for along time. Then I started do some research online about tubes and discovered a tube guru in nearby Denver and replaced all the tubes with JJ Teslas and noticed a distinct sweetening of my sound. I haven't had a chance to try...

    Racks on Cabs.

I've sat my racks on my 2X12 and 4X12 cabs, all with casters, for years and haven't had any problems. I've used anvil, calzone, and most recently SKB racks. All of them are plain with no shock mounts or anything. I just switched to the SKB with rollers to make moving it easier. 8)

    Need your amp opinions.

All I can say is wow!. I got a used 20/20 with JJ Tesla tubes installed off of Ebay and man, you guys were right on! This little beast rocks! I ran it side by side to test the differences with my 2:90 and they are different critters, each with their own strong points. But after playing with it...

    Noob Question, retubing 2 90

You can't use just any 6L6s. The kit from Eurotubes is a a great Deal. Mesa wants $42 per pair for 6L6s. Just make sure to order the kit for the 2:90 because the tubes are matched to the 2:90's spec. The 3 AX7 tubes are inside. You have to open it up. Make sure it is unplugged and don't touch...

    20/20 Tubes...

So i've read that a lot of 20/20 users prefer to replace the stock EL84s with JJ Tesla EL84s. Have any of you guys tried those or any other tubes in the 20/20? What are the tonal differences? 8)

    Best rack effects for Triaxis?

Wow, I tried re-routing the G-Major between the TA and amp like you guys suggested and wow! I can't believe the difference. All of the tone and dynamics are alive as if there was no FX at all and the G-major works great in that position! I can't believe I've never tried this. Thanks again for...

    Need your amp opinions.

Thanks guys, I really respect your opinions. I'm definitely going to check out the 20/20. Are there any major differences between the older chrome face and newer black face models? 8)

    Best rack effects for Triaxis?

Thanks GintownSound and Jazzgear! I think I'll give the G-Major another shot. I've never tried it between the TA and amp. Sounds like that's the way to go. Thanks again! 8)

    Need your amp opinions.

Thanks Fatboy & Straitouttahell. I appreciate the input. I've always been a 6L6 guy, but I 'd like to explore the EL84 possibilities. I think I'm convinced enough to at least try out the TA & 20/20 setup. And I'll probably keep my 2:90 for backup and large gigs. 8)

    Best rack effects for Triaxis?

What are your favorite rack effects to use with a Triaxis. I'm using a G-Major and think it robs my tone. I noticed the Triaxis/2:90 sounds best with the effects bypassed altogether. I really only need occasional delays and sometimes a little chorus. I'm thinking of going back to my Intellifex...

    Need your amp opinions.

Howdy all! I'm new here and think I've finally found the Holy Grail of Mesa info. I've been using a Triaxis/2:90/2x12 Verticle Recto cab (wired stereo) rig with Jackson SL1s/Les Pauls & Strats with EMG Gilmour PUs for some years and have been quite happy with all of it. I do mainly classic...

    FA: Boogie 20/20

Is the 20/20 loud enough to gig with in your opinion? I'm using a Triaxis, a 2:90 and a verticle recto cab wired stereo. The 2:90 is just too loud for the places I play (medium sized clubs). We do classic rock and I rarely get to set the volume knobs past 2, so I feel like I'm not getting the...
