Here's what Fractal is doing to our music

I prefer things that sound good to me. How they go about it is of little concern.

Here's what Fractal is doing to our music

My next major purchase is going to be an Axe FX II XL. Fortunately, Metallica isn't "my" music, so everything should work out just fine.

Anyone have some playing time with both 6L6 and EL34's?

I'm not a gain junky, but I still prefer the EL34s. They work great with Tweed mode on channel one, as well as sounding better to me on two and three. Of course, I'll probably swap the 6L6s back in next week and like THEM better...

Mark V with Multi Effects 4 Cable

My Mark V works just fine with my G System, the trick is getting all of the levels set up correctly up front. And this all depends on how you have the individual channels set up on the V as well, so unfortunately every scenario is different and there is a bit of trial-and-error involved.

    c30 vs black shaddow

I'm running my V (big one) with EL34s and a pair of Vintage 30-loaded ported 1x12s. I also have cabs with the C90s in them, but I do prefer the Vintage 30s for the sounds I'm after.

MARK5:25 mode – switching channels and modes via footswitch

The different modes require different tone settings to optimize them, plus there's the issue of volume discrepancies. You could do it, but you probably won't be satisfied with the results.

    Channel volume question

If you're connected 4 cable, there is a slight amount of channel bleed that passes through the loop.

    Mark V bashing / hate

A boost will take a Mark places where it can't go on its own. Also, proper gain structuring with just one OD pedal can turn three channels into six.

Need some help from MKV owners

Running the channel masters too high puts a much hotter signal through the loop circuit (even if you don't have any effects in the loop). This can cause problems. So running the channel masters lower keeps the loop circuit happy, and then you adjust the output master to get the volume level...

Need some help from MKV owners

I just fired up my amp and tested things out. I have an Eventide SPACE in the loop, which has an LED that lights up green when signal is present (and turns red when clipping occurs). Turning the channel masters all the way down causes the LED to stop lighting up when playing, which means that...

Need some help from MKV owners

The output master is the knob just to the left of the standby switch. The channel masters are grouped with the tone controls for each of the three channels. Each channel master controls just the output for the channel that it is grouped with, the output master controls everything. Looking at...

Need some help from MKV owners

Channel masters are before the loop, it's the output master that is after it.

Need some help from MKV owners

I see from the picture that you have it set on Extreme mode. This mode has more gain than the other two, but it's also fatter and a bit smoother, and as such doesn't sound as distorted as IV and IIC+ modes (great for smooth, "singing" leads, but not so great for in your face 'chugga-chugga')...

    it came with el34s

I switch back and forth between 6L6s and EL34s, but generally tend to prefer the EL34s.

I guess that's one way to get a little hair in your tone...

    Mark V Question

That clicking noise is the relays in the amp opening and closing. If the footswitch cable is loose things can get caught "in between" and the relays don't know what to do. A little bit of clicking is perfectly normal when first firing it up, though.

    FX issues

I have no problems with the Flashback in the loop of any of my Mesas, your Time Machine may not have enough headroom. Try it with just the TC pedal and see if the issue goes away. If it does, the Vox is the culprit.

    NAD - Mk V + 1 x 12 wide body cab

The reverb is designed to mute momentarily when changing channels, this prevents nasty surprises when switching from one sound to another. As for the popping, this is common when switching between channels that are set to different wattages (and is most noticeable when switching in or out of...

    Mark V 25w Mini Head

You wouldn't need the cab clone with the Mark V. The Cab Clone is a straight load box, and not an attenuator, so using it would mute the speaker(s) entirely. I ran my Mark V in my apartment with a Recto 2x12, and it does apartment-friendly volume just fine.

    Mark V 25w Mini Head

    I've already got a full-size V, I'm HOPING that the 84s take it in a different direction.
