So on a '78 Boogie ... I should have a tech just replace outright? There is nothing that can be checked? If I replace, can you recommend good replacement parts? What other parts might need to be replaced due to age on my rig?

He was the one who helped me fix my '78 Boogie fetron problem. I only got a little help from Mesa ... BB helped me get it repaired. A shame he is gone.

Actually my '78 boogie has MESA logo written on it too. But they were still low volume ... hand built at that time. I ordered/paid for mine in December ... and it was delivered the next July. You can see it in the avatar.

I built this sealed cabinet for a EVM12L when I bought my original Boogie back in '78. Built well but heavy for a 1x12 cab ... cab weighs 45 pounds. It's still going strong ... does everything I want. It can also compete with guys with 4x12s on stage. Awesome speaker ... still completely...
