What type of pre-amp tubes are you using? Power tubes? How old are they? Russian pre amp tubes are dark sounding. Chinese pre-amp tubes will brighten the sound of your amp. Maybe its time for a complete set of pre and power tubes.

I used to be a combo guy but the last while I have gone the head and cab route for this very reason. Alot easier on the electronics and tubes. Hope things work out for ya.

I would be calling Mesa on that one but I wouldnt do it. I think it would be ok running two Yellowjackets when using two 6L6,s but not all four. I would probably order a couple more Yellowjackets and use four in all 6L6's. What would be cool is run your Yellowjackets in place of your EL- 34's...

JJ makes a really nice EL-84 power tube, probably the best one right now. Pop in a couple of those and your amp will be better than new. I promise. I run them in my Nomad 45. :)

To me, a RK is a serious investment and and an investment lasts a lifetime. Amps that cost that much are keepers. So enjoy what you have and start saving for that next amp. Styles change over time. Ten years from now people may be looking for that rare RK I because it did something different...

Mesa uses hardwoods thare not from the rainforest. Plywood is more stable and wil resist warping better than a non-laminated wood. And Birch is hard as hell. Purpleheart will change color after awhile if its not sealed due to oxidation. It will get darker. Some people call it charactor. I would...
