    TOV Problems

Yesterday, I turned on my TOV for the first time in 3 weeks. After playing for about 30 minutes, the amp started making a low continuous hum/rumble that would not stop until I put the amp on standby. It did this only on channel 2. When I turned the SB switch back on , the noise was gone, but...

    Tremoverb tones??

I am not a metal guy, but I did find that by retubing my TOV, I got that DR heavy distortion. I used JJ 6L6's and the high gain preamp tube option from Eurotubes. Also changed the rectifier tubes to GZ34's. It had EL34's in it when I got it, and the 6L6's IMO, produce more of the sound I was...

    Tremoverb vs Dual Recto

I have a TOV and I think it's one of the finest amps Mesa ever made. I'm sure there are subtle differences in a DR and a TOV, but I think of the TOV as an elegant version of a DR with its addition of reverb, and trem. Moreover, I think the DR has a reputation of being a monster metal amp, hence...

How much newer do you mean? I have an 04 Am St Strat with Kinmans, and an 07 VG Strat. Both sound great thru my TOV and F30. Are you looking for some specific info ? Mike

Anyone have any experience with Avatar 212s?

I have a 212 with Hellatone 30's. Sounds excellent !! The build quality is great. I built a 212 cab with Vintage 30's for my son, and it actually cost about the same. Avatar builds a great cab. Mine is an open back, but the one I built is a closed back. That could make a difference in the low...

Got me a Trem-o-verb and would like some settings

You can download a manual from Mesa online that will have some settings in it. When I bought mine. it had EL-34's in it. No idea how old they were. It sounded good, not great. I ordered a complete TOV tube set from Eurotubes opting for the 6L6's, and it made it sound like a DR should. One thing...

    Mark III problem

Try doing a search on the board for (Mark volume drop). Not all posts will apply, but you should see something there to get you started. I just looked, and there were posts about the FX loop causing some problems along with many others. Good Luck Mike

Not sure What Head to get by Mesa

I haven't seen it mentioned in this thread, but a Tremoverb is my Mesa choice. It is a dual rectifier, and can get as bada$$ as you want. Also has great cleans, and everything in between. You will not be disappointed. Get the head because the combo is heavy. I mean hernia heavy. Good Luck, Mike

    Tremoverb Footswitch

I have a VooDooMan switch made for the ToV. It works great. Cost around $ 85. Now for the bad news. There is at least one thread on this forum arguing the pros and cons of the VooDooMan company. i ordered mine about 2 years ago, and received it in about a week. Others have reported numerous...

    Tremoverb dull sounding red channel

The ToV's are notorious for LDR problems. The volume drop out would suggest to me that is the problem. There are few threads that have discussed the problems. Long story short, some of the LDR's used in the amps were unreliable. If in fact they are the culprit in your amp woes, Mesa authorizes...

    Avatar cabinets?

I have a 212 with Hellatone 30's. Sounds excellent !! The build quality is great. I built a 212 cab with Vintage 30's for my son, and it actually cost about the same. Good Luck mike

    Trem O Verb issues

If it is an LDR issue, make sure they don't charge you. Mesa will authorize their Service Centers to replace them no charge. Mine went about a year before one of the channels just started dropping out. Took it to Mesa in Petaluma, 30 miles away, and they did a complete tune-up, charged zero for...

    Question for Tremoverb users...

Personally, I think my ToV can do just about anything. The cleans are great and the crunch is killer. Some people say they are not crazy about the blues channel, but I think it does a great job. With any dual recto, you need to play with settings to get the sound YOU want, but believe me...

Amazing Customer Service from Mesa Boogie

They replaced a bunch of LDR's on my previously owned ToV last year as well. No Charge !! Customer Service like that is almost impossible to find these days!! Mike

    EL34s in a Tremoverb

Just my 2 cents....... I replaced the EL 34's that came with my ToV with JJ 6L6's a few months after I got it, and the change was amazing. Granted, I had no idea how old the EL 34's were, but the sound this thing puts out now is killer from cleans to crunch, and everything in between. Mike
