So is it just me who finds Vintage mode a little muffled?

I run the presence at 0 on Modern on Ch3, which I use for rhythm, and actually, on channel 2 on modern for leads. But I cannot get Vintage to sound good with presence at 0 on Ch2. Where do you run the presence for a good lead tone in Vintage?

So is it just me who finds Vintage mode a little muffled?

Maybe it's my ears are so used to modern mode, but even when using Petrucci's settings, Vintage sounds a little muffled to me. I dunno why??

Who here use a boost pedal for leads on their Rectifier?

I agree, but he just used his guitar, wah, dd6 and 2 Road Kings for G3, and his tone is fantastic. Must just be in the fingers.

Who here use a boost pedal for leads on their Rectifier?

the reason I ask is because Petrucci gets a huge lead tone with whatever Rectifier he uses, yet he apparently doesn't use a boost?

Who here use a boost pedal for leads on their Rectifier?

So I decided to keep my 3 channel head as I realised just how great it sounded and I love the versatility of it, over a 2 channel. Anyway with that said, I have been playing it alot loudly the last 2 days, and I LOVE it. Who here use a boost pedal for leads with their Recto? I was using a...

Want more gain 1994 dual rec

If you are playing at lower volumes, this is why you won't have much gain. In this case, I would recommend a Maxon OD808 - fantastic pedal. However, once you turn the ***** up, you should only need the OD for VERY gainy stuff. All in my opinion of course.

Slight dilemma involving 2 channel Mesa Rectifier heads.....

Well.. It only has 2 dings on the tolex. Tiny. The rest is dead mint. The blackface this is.

Slight dilemma involving 2 channel Mesa Rectifier heads.....

It's not about the cosmetics. It's more about the tone.. Any ideas on that?

Slight dilemma involving 2 channel Mesa Rectifier heads.....

So, regarding my quest of a 2 channel Rectifier... I have 2 potential amps I could buy. Amp 1, is a Blackface, early 93 model, serial number r-001538. This one has a few scars on the tolex, but other than that, is absolutely mint. Amp 2 is your standard recto fare looks wise, not sure on the...

thats the thing. i'm definately into the simplicity side of things, and the purity of the 2ch tone.

Selling a 3 channel to fund the purchase of 2 channel..wise?

I definately preferred the JJs over the stock Mesa 6L6s - they improved the aggression of the amp to me. The 2 channel models have so much aggression aswell, but its smoother and more organic, to my ears.

Selling a 3 channel to fund the purchase of 2 channel..wise?

Cool man, thanks for the advice. I have had the 3 channel Dual for around a year or so now, and it's just not happenin as much as the 2 channels i've heard. The fact it's a Blackface just makes it oh so much sweeter, to me. Anymore opinions?
