Best humbuckers for the Mark V?

Hijack alert: Just had a first gig with my new guitar last night equipped with a Jazz SD at the neck. I was very happy compare to previous guitar. I could dial the volume and tone on the guitar like never before. Very very please. Pickup not very hot that is correct.

Recommendation for a cab simulator for the Mark V

I've been using for months, a Behringer Ultra-G which like the Red-Box does the speaker emulation (4x12" in this case) work fine. It's never like the real cab but to feed a low level stage monitors its ok. I prefer miking my cab with an SM57.

    Head or Combo?

Well, you will get many stories and arguments; 1- 69 lbs for the combo vs 45 lbs for the head. 2- I finally changed speakers in my cabs to reduce the high end and beefup the lows. I started with a combo and traded it for a head 1 week later because of weight. I am now perfectly happy now...

Possible issue with FX button on footswitch?

No No! They did the work locally in the shop. I did not see the part but he said it was a relay so I assumed its some sort of solenoid type actuated switch but I admit I can't tell you if its 50cents or 50$ part.

Possible issue with FX button on footswitch?

Well I got the cable problem 6 months ago. I bent the pin like suggested in a other post that fixed it for good. Than a month ago I lost bass and everything sounded shrill. On FX hard bypass all was ok. Tube feeding the FX loop was ok, ... so I returned it the dealer. After inspection, it was...

    Matching Mesa Tubes

All is well and reflects what one can fing on the diagram from the MkV manual. That means the 2 tubes in 10 watt mode don't need to be matched. Correct?

Can I run my Mark V directly into a computer with Slave?

The slave out has to go through a DI like an ULTRA-G DI which does speaker emulation otherwise your going to feed you PA system with a whole lot of Bee'zzzzz flying around.

    OT: EVM-12L for MkV

Just to let you know that I finally changed both my CL-80 that were in my 2x12" cab for a GK100 I had and an Eminence Delta-PRO 12A following your suggestion. I think that will do it for me as well. It's now got a nice bottom end (for the style I play-> rock, hard rock, that sort of stuff..) I...

    Stereo set up with MkV

The Slave out is actually after the power section (parallel with the 8ohms outputs and with a volume pot). The Mute out is from the preamp.

Doubt about the 4, 8 ohns connection to my 4x12 8,16ohns Cab

The manual is good except that it never quite clarify how those outputs are connected to the output transformer. The little diagrams show a generic amp with a number of outputs never the exact layout of the Mark V. Just remember that the 8ohms output has 2 connectors attached to it in parallel...

Doubt about the 4, 8 ohns connection to my 4x12 8,16ohns Cab

Yes that's it. The MarkV is capable of handling a higher load than what the output is labeled for. The manual discuss all kind of situation like that they call them "SAFE MISMATCH". So you could connect your cab in MONO 16 ohms in the 8 ohms output or even the 4 ohms without any harm. I think it...

Doubt about the 4, 8 ohns connection to my 4x12 8,16ohns Cab

This is incorrect!! Do not do this because you have now a 4 ohms load connected to the 8 ohms OT tap! You will fry the OT if you push your amp!!! The connectors on the back of the amp are in parallel! You connect a single 8 ohms in one outputs or you connect 2 16 ohms speakers (1 in each 8...

GT10 in the fx loop of Mark V sounds different

I have been using a GT-10 in a 4CM setup for a year now. It's quite alright for the purpose. I just can't use some modules like compression, overdrive, distortion without adding too much noise, but for the mods and delays its good and I can select the lead channel with the AMP CTL output. When...

    Combo or Head???

Head! Had a combo for a week and returned it for a head. Same reasoning and some tube rattling issues...long story. Head Head Head.

Anyone wish they could run multiple Mark Vs?

As Shaner30 said that's exactly what I would do. This amps driving me crazy with the possibilities. I'm totally unstable and can't settle on a fix setup. Hi! my name is Stefan and I've own ONLY ONE MkV for 14 months now. I think I have a problem......

Ruby Tubes EL 34 BHT anyone???

Interesting! I've been using a somewhat cheap Chinese EL34B sold as Ruby. Do you think they are the same? Here's the link. http://thetubestore.com/shuguangel34b.html They sure sound fine for me. Way better than the stock 6L6s for the type of sound I was looking for. I can't imagine what an...

    Mark V problems ...

The amp great and very robust, except the cable connectors for the footswitch. We have to admit that it's a bit finicky.

    OT: EVM-12L for MkV

Just a quick note! I went ahead and ordered a Delta Pro112A. Just received it Friday. I swapped one of my two CL80 with it and put a G12K100 for the other CL80. I can split or used them as mono so I did a bit of comparison. The Delta Pro is way better at handling bass. Less cardboard cone noise...

    OT: EVM-12L for MkV

Interesting. I think the Delta Pro 12A look very promising and at a good price. Big magnet like the EV12M. I checked the various specs and response curve and its hard to get a true appriciation from technical data. For example. The Celestion site shows that the G12K100 has a response (usable)...
