    Took the Mark V Plunge

I personally use SED Winged "C" EL-34s. Others have said that the JJ's are nice as well. I just really like SED's 6L6's and EL34s, nice "brown" sound from both. Especially the 34's.

Finally tried EL34s today. Good stuff!

I'm running the SED Winged C EL34s and they are FANTASTIC! Never used the JJ's, but I've heard they are very good too. Got the SED's because their 6L6's are awesome, and I just rolled the dice hoping the 34s would be as good, and they are. They are my top choice now, I keep the 6L6's for backups...

2x12 Recto cab for Mark V...horizontal or vertical ?

Glad to hear all these good reviews of the 2x12's, I ordered a Vertical Recto 2x12 from Mesa Hollywood today. Had a 4x12 and sold it due to back pain, been living with my Egnater 2x12 for a few months. It's a pretty nice little cab, but looking forward to getting back the the Boogie cab.

2x12 Recto cab for Mark V...horizontal or vertical ?

I know this is not relevant to your question, but I just was wondering how it feels to have BOTH the Mark V and Electra Dyne? AWESOME!!

Slipknot Seether and Disturbed Tones MArk V

Just got it a week ago, so far I really like it. I've owned the regular SE Custom 24 before, but sold it when I was cleaning house to buy my JP6. Obviously I missed that darn guitar, because I went out and got another! Basically the same feel and tone, just different cosmetics with the Quilt and...

Can't believe I just joined the Mark V club!

Congratulations on your new Mark V! Nova Delay all the way!

Way to get a more modern heavier metal sound?

I know I may get ridiculed for this, but I do have an MXR 10-Band EQ in my loop that I occasionally turn on to tighten up the lows and REALLY make the Mark V growl. It seems like overkill because the amp has a built in EQ already, but it does allow you get get a bit more bass and get closer to...

    Suggestions please!!

Take the amp! Those EC-1000's are very nice guitars for sure, but a good tube amp they are not!

First Jam with the band w/ the Mark V -Feedback issues Halp!

Agree with the others, channel masters on 2 and 3 are too high.

    6L6's vs EL34's

I bought some SED's based on how much I love their 6L6's. They are great, but cost a little more than some others. MusicManJP6 on the forum here really loves the JJ's, others have suggested that the stock Mesa EL34's sound good too.

Need a new guitar for new MARK V!

Nicely said, you don't have to be a Petrucci fan to know that this is an outstanding guitar. Forgot to mention previously, the neck on the JP6 is crazy awesome! Love the look and feel of Birds-eye maple.

    6L6's vs EL34's

There are plenty here who prefer 6L6's and plenty who prefer EL34's. Recently I switched to EL34's and I really love the sound. Through the 6L6's back in yesterday now that I've had time to accurately assess both, the EL34's are going back in. Just sounds smoother to me, really tamed the high...

Problems with the Mark V so far?

Only problem I have had is that this amp is too awesome! Seriously though, mine has been trouble free for about a year now(since I got it!). The warranty is the best, buy with confidence as Mesa has your back!
