I have a vertical 2x12 with V30's and I really dig it. I'm running it with my new Port City cab, they work well together. It sounds great all by it's lonesome though, and much easier to move too! Some have said they don't care for the V30's, but I think they are great after a nice break-in period.

I rarely use an OD for a lead boost, but I use my Paul Cochrane Timmy as a fourth channel. It works well as a boost too, but I just don't need a boost with the Mark V.

I went to a Mark V head/cab setup from the 5:50. I REALLY liked the 5:50, it's a great amp. However, I LOVE the Mark V! The other post was correct, you will never miss your Express. HSS Strat all day long! Although I sold it in favor of my Suhr S3, there is so much versatility from the Strat that the others just don't have. I loved the single coils on Ch2 Mark 1, awesome!

I wouldn't worry too much, I have SN# 00042 and I've had ZERO issues!

I dialed in Mark I to my liking and haven't used Ch. 3(any mode) since! Sounds hard to believe, maybe crazy, but I just can't get the low end response from any other mode n the amp that I like.

Congrats man! Like the previous post said, the manual is so important to read with this amp.

My main lead channel is now Mark I, haven't used channel 3 in weeks. You just have to dial it in to your liking, it has as much gain as any of the voices of Channel 3 to my ears. Love the bottom end response, which I just have not seemed to find on Ch. 3.

I too have experienced this. I attributed it to not letting it warm up long enough, but I could be wrong as I haven't had it happen for some time now.
