    Need help...Stiletto .. bold/spongy

I'm bringing up an old post, but my new Stiletto just did the same thing. I've been playing it in spongy 50 watt at bedroom volumes at the volume began dropping further. I could play it a full volume in the bedroom - it was probably putting out less than 1 watt of power. I lowered the volume...

    Roccaforte Amps?

I have 4 early Marshall superleades with Roccaforte master volumes and they are really great amps. His amps are 1st rate and not just some kind of plexi clone. They are in the Marshall realm of things, but they sound great at low volumes and are very well crafted. A+ amps in my gradebook...

    Stiletto Question

Thanks for the replys - I'm glad to hear that there is nothing wrong with the amp. I'm a little fearful of playing it at home though - accidently flipping that little switch takes it from talking volumes to full-up max volume.

    Stiletto Question

I just played a Stiletto and I really liked the sharp biting sound of it, but it seemed to have one issue. When on the clean channel, if I switch the toggle to "crunch" there is a HUGE boost in volume. The amp seems to jump to a volume of 10 - I'm sure Mesa didn't intend this. Anyone else...

Removing the back panel on a Mark III combo cabinet

Thanks, I'll take a closer look inside.

Removing the back panel on a Mark III combo cabinet

I recently bought a mint blue line Mark III combo. It's my first Mesa Mark amp, and it sounds really cool. It does however have a rather nasty rattle inside, that sounds like it's coming from around the fan in the lower right of the amp. I tried to take the back panel off and it seems to be...

I agree, they are really good.

If I put Yellow Jackets in a LSC will it sound like a LSS?

I have not tried the 6V6's in the LSC, I really like it with the 6L6's and with EL34's. It seems to me that the LSC with Jellow jackets should be about the same amp as the LSS, minus the 5 watt switch. It that's the case, would'nt it always make more sense to buy the LSC? That way you could...

If I put Yellow Jackets in a LSC will it sound like a LSS?

Yellow Jackets are tube adaptors that allow 6L6 and EL34 amps to run EL84's. If I put them in a Lonestar Classic will it sound like a Lonestar Special?

Were do guys buy your fuses for your mesa's?

Be careful! You must use Mesa brand fuses or it will void your warranty! They are a little pricey at $42 each. Just kidding.

LoneStar Owners...How Much Does Your Hum?

Mine doesn't hum at all, it's a very quiet amp. I suspect your hum is either a guitar, cable, or source of electricity issue. There is a very soft whir of the fan, but that's it.

Love my new Lonestar - hate the Mesa tubes!

Nifty50, I couldn't find any PM - I'm new at this, so perhaps I didn't know how to find the PM.? For an update - I received a new set of 6L6 tubes from Mesa today. They sound great and have no rattle or noise at all. Clearly 5 of the 6 EL34's were very noisy tubes. I'm sending them back...

    straight from Randalls mouth

So soul, It's not "hype" it's part of their stated warranty. If something goes wrong with my over $2000 amp, I would like to have them fix it and not void the warranty by using tubes that they have explicity stated will void the warranty. I'm an honest person, I'm unwilling to use non-Mesa...

For those of you who have switched to non-Mesa tubes...

Oyster, I don't think it makes much sense for Mesa to sell crappy tubes. I've had a limited sample so I couldn't say that they do sell crappy tubes - but 5 of the last 6 EL34's were not useable. Maybe a bad day at quality control? I don't know. It is worth keeping in mind that Mesa wwaaayyy...

    straight from Randalls mouth

I wish he would tell me that in writing. Otherwise it doesn't do me much good. One of the Mesa techs told me twice in the past two weeks that using any non mesa tubes would void the warranty. He mentioned Groove tubes by name and said that they can't rely on their product for Mesa amps.

For those of you who have switched to non-Mesa tubes...

jbird, It would be off-topic to use this thread to talk about Mesa's outstanding customer support - the topic of this thread is "For those of you who have switched to non-Mesa tubes..." I haven't brought up the six month warranty because Mesa has not yet lived up to it - I have every...

For those of you who have switched to non-Mesa tubes...

In the last two weeks I've bought 3 pair (6) El34 mesa tubes and 5 out of 6 rattle so badly that they are unuseble. I took the first pair back to Guitar Center, and they were nice enough to replace them, even though it is their policy not to take returns on tubes. Since then I've been...

OK - where is the serial # on my Lonestar?

I know this is probably a silly question, but I'm filling out the warranty card and I can't find the serial #. It's probably right in front of me, but I don't see it. Anyone know where it is? Thanks PS. Wow this is a fine sounding amp

Love my new Lonestar - hate the Mesa tubes!

Old-guy, I've called Mesa several times and they have been responsive and helpful. They think the 6L6's were probably damaged and seem like they are going to exchange the rattling EL34's. Aside from the rattle of the tubes, this amp sounds really great and seems to be working perfectly.

Love my new Lonestar - hate the Mesa tubes!

Old-guy, I've only had the LSC for a little over a week - The reason I'm swapping tubes is: the amp was a display model that was played with the bias set to EL34's but with the factory 6L6's, and it cooked the power tubes. They still worked but lacked high end and poped loudly when the amp...
